700mm is no problem, call it two feet, I really do have a (bloody expensive) 5m length!

What's everyone using 100mm tube for then ?

Simon, are the copper gaskets with fire ring a custom design or generally available? I take it you think it will solve the "problem"? Really hope it does.

Hi John

Must be a fair few GT30R's going on out there

Custom design but generaly available i.e. if you wanted them you could get them, very reasonable pricing too. Not sure about using solid fire rings or the "blow-up" type yet, because it's 2.5lt I can't use the rally car ones so I may just stick some solid ones in there and "see how it goes".

Obviously I have followed the various threads about head gasket failures (plus what I know from working here) so it's going to be interesting seeing if I can "make it live" past the magical 10k miles. Having said that, 10k miles is about when I'd be pulling it apart for a re-build so it might be academic...

Reading all the post's it does seem that 500 is the number that causes all the trouble once past that it does not want to live for too long, having said that, do you REALLY need a daily (1300kg) driver with over 500 ft lb's / bhp? Silly question I suppose, once you've had it you need it all the time....

Cheers

Simon

you don't need 500ft-lb all the time, it is a wholly foolish enterprise.

Thanks Simon. Agreed, so my present experiment is to see if I can resist fiddling long enough to see that it all works fine at more like 380-400 lbft.

Hi Simon,

Have you by any chance still got the VF37 bits and bobs there?
I'm looking to find out the correct banjo bolt to use in the head for the oil feed pipe to the turbo.
A few people have said it should be a restrictive banjo yet the one ordered from RCM turned up full size.
I'm a bit as to what to do.
The only people that have or have fiddled with a VF37 as far as I know is Bob R and yourself...

Cheers.

Andy

No Bob, that's the problem.

Only have the core bolt, not the head bolt.

as per my pic on 22b in the "VF35 oil and water pipes"

Hope you can help.

Also reading another thread on here it appeares the oil feed pipe wont fit either, Perhaps I could get a flexible braided one as supplied with the fitting kit on my/our BRD hybrid??
Did that come from TD ?
