Do hope we have all that sorted.
But he certainly isn't the only person that is more than competent at Apexi mapping

I don't think anybody is disagreeing with you Cord so let us hear from people with first hand experience of Apexi mapping elsewhere and let's hear from Cheryl.

I was just saying that he isn't the only option. I've been in a car mapped by him, and it seemed to be a very nice job.
For example we do vast amounts of apexi mapping (mainly in skylines, but we have done our fair share of impreza's). I see Cheryl has GTart as his homepage, I don't know if Cheryl works for them? I've had first hand experience of their mechanical work, and i know that Gary does Apexi mapping, but I've never been in a car mapped by him. And I thought he only did Skylines (But I could very easily be wrong)

Quote from Cheryls web page
we have recently decided to open our doors to owners of other high-performance Japanese cars. We welcome enquiries about tuning upgrades for Subaru Impreza
Perhaps that explains a thing or two !!

lol @ Cord....... "Cheryl has GTart as his homepage"

Im sorry i got the wrong end of the stick!! Yes i do work for Gary @ GT ART. Yes he does all the mapping on Apexi Power FC's......if i did the mapping i would tell you all my thoughts.....but from what i know the Apexi Power FC is a very good ECU, and is mostly used by skyline owners but not all of them....but it does count on the mapper to set it up correctly!

We do,do only skylines....but mapping Apexi Power FC's and supplying them to other makes is not a problem. I purley posted on here to say that we had an Apexi Power FC here in stock for a Subaru WRX 98 onwards for sale.....

I have never posted on here in the past....as only recently signed up. I like subaru's and thought i would sign up and see what you guys chat about and try and offer help....didnt see anything wrong in that.?

Thats a bit harsh!!!

I think you'll find that GTart have turned out some VERY nice skylines, mapped by themselves.

anyway enough carp. What was this thread actually about? Ah, sod it. I'm off to utilise the kettle!!!!

I do hope it is not a problem Cheryl. The Subaru is a different animal to map from the, dare I say 'better' engines fitted to the Skylines. There are a number of major shortcomings related to fuel system imbalance, irregular intake runner flow, uneven exhaust pulse effects, not to mention the top mount intercooler or extra long pipework associated with a front mount intercooler.
These all have a major effect on the way the car is mapped, it is no coincidence that there are a high number of engine failures in inexperienced hands.

Whilst I have no reason to doubt Garys mapping expertise, unless he has substantial experience mapping the Subaru then I would recommend that a customers car is not the place to start !

You will find that all the Subaru mappers on here have done all their experimenting on their own cars first (and broke some parts along the way I might add) They have gone on to produce good results at either stage rallying, dyno 'shootout' days, scooby shootout, or TOTB to name a few.

If I'm being unfair in assuming your company does not have a background with this car then I'm sure you will correct me and we will see you and your tuned cars at some of the above events

One thing you are good at Cheryl .....is getting the wrong message !!

I'm not saying you have no experience at mapping. I'm saying that subarus require a different approach. Without this SUBARU mapping experience, there are a few potential problems. All the vital signs can be fine but all is not well within the engine !

cheryl, think you best look elsewhere to do your P.R.

last thing we need on here is another "rip off company"

No, I map under the conditions the engine normally performs, ie on the road. I find this gives the best results, especially when the AVC-R is mapped to take advantage of the 'in gear' start duty offset. This can't be done on the dyno.

Hmmmm

Thats a little 'rude'.

Builders of 2 of the fastest Skylines in the country, with a very good rep with thier customers & AFAIK the first Skyline to do over 200 mph in the country?

Do they 'rip off' as you put it because of the Power FC being £250 more plus VAT here?. Compare the prices to other UK suppliers & thats the going rate, so that arguement doesnt really stack up.

Yes they maybe Skyline specialists, but might fancy moving into Subaru's, Evo's etc everyone has to start somewhere.

And that proves what exactly?

That you can get parts cheaper abroad? woohoo one gold star to Jonny Gav.

Hey - now you found the Greenline site, be really adventurous & look at some American sites, you can buy complete HKS turbo kits for nearly half the price than you can get them here! good isnt it!

Although what happens when it goes wrong?
