Just to add to that.... what level would a knocklink red light correspond to?

At the moment i'm seeing about 25 as a maximum with no obvious spikes when in graph mode. Have seen 76 as a max before i changed the map

Tony.

If your talking about connecting the sensor under the dash then yes.....however you can monitor everything via the pendant anyway.

One BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIG Thread......tookk a while to get through...

Anyway i have a FC Commander...originally RC Developments Mapped it to my car...with other mods including a Apexi Ecu POT 3 boost etc...

I found that the car was very under mapped...as im sure they would under tune, as they wouldnt want ot take the chance of a customer of driving off with a car, and the engine blowing up down the road from them!!

One single rong setting can cause serious damadge...and Experience i would think is a must...

Anyway...FC commander...great piece of kit...Pain in the back side to know how to use...though would be very helpfull if i did..

Andy.F is mapping it for me next weekend...hoping it wil resolve allot of my issues i have at the moment.....

Sam

I've done quite a few more mods, and will be arranging an Andy F. session shortly - I've never heard anyone complain about him - unlike they have about other companies.

Where? I've only managed to find one.

Overall, I have no problem recommending fitting one to your motor, just make sure you get someone experienced and capable of mapping it.
typing errors are only human i know the power fc has 4 maps with the commander and the avcr has 2

so, leading on from the multi map situation...
you could have a fast road map
a track day map
and a motorway cruising/daily commute map for fuel consumption...

oh happy days (sorry AndyF, is it extra?)

Are you confusing 4 "Boost" settings, with "Maps"?

I thought there was only one ign/inj map, with 4 boost settings.

well thats what it must be then all i know is you can have then set for different styles of driving so as far as im concerned they are maps as you still have to map the car to get the others driving correctly

This willl depend on your positioning of the knocklink sensor and the sensitivity setup on the knocklink.

I get two green lights at around 35 and get a red somewhere between that and 53. - There doesn't seem to be much in between.

Sam, when are you having the map ? -I'm taking mine to Andy on the 8th.... My expectations are slowly moving downhill, as each day passes - must be the 1500 miles I've driven so far on 'Crapo' boost.....

At least I won't be disappointed - 100 BHP would feel fast at this point

Though I'm sure it'll be slightly better than that

Mark

I can't advise a general 'safe' knock level on the Apexi.

Some cars can have a background noise of 20 and spikes of 25+ are det, then you can have (mainly 99-on) with a background of 5 and 15 is considerable det.
You really need to set them up with det cans, the alarm point for flashing the check engine light can then be set at the correct level for that car, ensuring that any det is highlighted.

As far as knocklink correlation is concerned, I have found that different age sensors and different locations can vary this considerably ! Again a set of cans is the only way to know what is going on for sure.
