know it sounds funny.i had same symptoms with my scoob.
had slight oil leak from driver side cam cover which was dripping oil onto exhaust manifold.this oil smoke was then being sucked into my air filter and coating the maf sensor.no fault was showing and whenever it was checked it always drove fine
soon as i done gasket and cleaned off maf it was fine

Check your engines knock sensor, if it is knackered or you have a loose fitmentwhich is vibrating near it them that will make your car think you have det, retard your ignition, cutting back on the boost and making you think that the car is "Holding back " all the time. I have had this problem, and that is how I cured it, new knock sensor, its located down on the block in a horrible place behind piston 3 inlet.

im getting a knocklink and sensor from the goupbuy on P1woc.co.uk
so we'll see what happens when i fit that.

Haven't logged in for months so sorry to drag this up again - but are any of the above posted still getting boost problems? I still do but haven't pursued it much since it is so intermittent.... Just curious - thanks!

i used to have loads of problems like the people above so took it to scoobyClinic and they found the ECU was faulty. Since they changed it with a secondhand ecu the cars been fine, boosts to 13-14 psi everytime. before it would only go to 5-6psi then up to 12 then back to 6 etc etc.

Which ECU did you have? A standard one or was the car chipped (ScoobyECU/Possom etc?)

it was the standard chip that went faulty, Scoobyclinic replaced with an uprated one though. if you can get your hands on a replacement it might be worth a go at fixing your boost problems.

Ive had similar problems. No.1 Have you got any error codes?
No. 2 If you DON'T have any error codes I suggest this.....replace the ECU or at least swap it with one you do know is in good working order b4 you go 2 any expense.

Ive just replaced mine and its fine I went thru all that sh*t m8!!!! I know!!
Im running a 93wrx. The ECU is located under the carpet on the passenger side under the plate. Easy. Be cool bro!!!

Never did solve my boost problem. Sold the car to Subaru tuner who replaced the management system completely but no idea if this solved the problem as I haven't heard back from him.

Hello m8, Ive had all these problems. Now....if you've got NO error codes showing and you are having the above problems (like i did) try changing the ECU. Thats what i did and it sorted it. Maybe swap with a mate before you splash. I got one off here for 50 squids. Result! Thats what i'd suggest.
I felt exactly the same.
