AP "kit" - telling it like it is

Phil.
I agree, but if you have a problem with Mike or Scoobymania and the things he is saying that's fine, just please leave me out of it.
You say that this thread and the one you started on 22B.com were both in defence of Quattro and Pete Croney.
I'm sure they're both big enough to look after themselves, or are you now available to hire as a 'PR Hit-man'????
Stef.

Yep fair enough Stef.
I'm sure they are big enough to look after themselves - one thing I would say is that some threads quickly get out of control and things get mis-quoted and before you know it there is one big kick off.
Just look at threads like "Which Brakes" and also the "Prodrive marketing" threads. They quickly get rail roaded from their initial points and go on to de-generate into back biting and slagging XYZ off.
Think back to my post months ago offering brakes for sale - It started by me just posting the prices I could get AP and Brembo kits - the next minute I'm being dragged over the coals.
Ironically I think it was you who was very kind to me in that thread. Anyway that's that - I've said more than enough on this subject. Like Lee said on the 22B site - this isn't the House of Commons.
Cheers

For what it's worth, I bought the original AP 330mm kit, the official package and it's crap. The reason I bought this was because I believed AP Racing would be in the best position (especially after reading their advert with regards to background pedigree/racing heritage etc..etc)to market the ultimate brakes for the Impreza and because I wanted the 4piston badged calipers as they looked the best as did the drilled discs.
It was only after hard usage that I realised how flawed they were and that they had in fact been developed with cosmetics as the driving factor as opposed to ultimate effectiveness. I took this up with AP who basically told me that "they never said these kits were designed for track use rather road use and that a dealer poll had shown that drilled discs looked best and would prove the most popular", despite the fact that they would crack/fade etc on track and could not be used with carbon metallic pads.
Even the ****ty Mintex pads ripped the discs to bits which AP kindly replaced for free before trying me on the very good AP Japan pads which only lasted 2000 miles. Now I'm on Pagids which are pretty good but had someone done all this legwork for me, I would not have had to mess around with all these different pads and ultimately still be unhappy with the conversion. The Scoobymania kit began development about a month after I bought mine and thanks to their efforts, owners won't have to be pissed off after spending £1500 on a kit which they would have thought would be properly developed in the first place.
So really, you're a little late as you should have targetted AP's official kit as opposed to the Scoobymania version which is far more effective for fast road/track use. Instead of trying to discredit Scoobymania, you should applaud them for taking the original kit and making it better!
So for all those people wishing to upgrade their brakes, regardless of where you buy them from, go for grooved discs. In fact, if I were able to choose discs, it would be those freaky swirly cross groove pattern. Don't go for drilled IMHO and experience you wont be satisfied!!
