The difference between a 328 sport and a normal 328:
M tech kit
Dark headlining
Sports seats
Half leather standard- full leather option
M tech suspension (bilsteins- same as M3)
LSD was standard until 1996 then was optional after 1996
A few other bits and bobs which i have noted somewhere.

Diablo,
I quite agree and dont have a lot of time for straight line stuff. The 172 does perform very well on track, so again, id be surprised if there was a significant difference...
I am a Honda fan, and know its designed as a track car for the road, but I will give the 172 its dues... I still haven't tried either, but suspect ill end up with one or the other before long... STi's aren't meant as a commuter car

i love hondas, have had a s2000 and an accord type r
driven the integra round brands hatch top car by far the best handeling fwd car i have driven
now drive a m3, love the bm too
but i think i would probably choose the integra over a 328
it is a more focused car
the best thing about bmw is the rwd so much fun to drive
but if you go the bm route be ready for other peoples predjuces

One thing to bear in mind, if it hasn't already been mentioned, is the dealers. Renault dealers are unbelievably awful. They will do your head in totally and are expensive. BMW are better, but also very expensive, relatively, and I have no experience of Honda.
Its a real shame. Renault make some cracking cars but the dealers are sooooo bad I would never have another.
