The **** of a copper involved should be prosecuted as prescribed by the law, as should the criminal/victim....not blasted with CS gas at close range, then pinned down cuffed, kicked and then have his head (a vital body part) smashed into the van.
...maybe the copper deserves the same treatment for breaking the law?

As for hitting his head on the van, if the idiot doesn't know to duck then serves him right.

Decent people should be on the side of the coppers; decent people should also want to see the officer punished for getting carried away on the physical restraint issue. If he wanted to hurt him, he'd have put the boot in properly. This was a 'dont even think of messing about any more' reminder or maybe a 'me and the others want to go home to our kids in one piece so forgive me for over-reacting like this' type of kick.
The unwritten law of the streets is that if you resist arrest you risk getting hurt; if you give it a go, you better know what can happen - even if it is by somewhat spiteful method such as a few kicks on the ground. You make your choices - patrticularly if you have just vandalised a bus shelter and cut women with the glass.
I hope you guys making a big deal out of this minor incident generally support the police proportionately as much as you castigate them here for a misdemeanour.
Christ! I've played rougher rugby games than that!

Diesel in Rugby people tend not to be handcuffed and can at least defend thereselves. No one is saying that the guy may or may not of acted the prat after a few drinks and have broken the Law. The point is that regardless of what he did there is no excuse for the Police acting in the way which they as a group of officers did. They didn't just stand by and watch this officer kick him once or twice they a MOB with warrant cards cuffed and HELD him DOWN while he had some sort of revenge/punishment/anger whatever you want to call it, dished out on him. I would hope that we and our Justice system was better than just gaining revenge. Revenge has a habit of coming back and biting you twice as hard.

Scrum Down!
Luan, your special and detailed insight here (particularly regarding what happened around the groin area) exceeds even your knowledge of rugby!
Sti – you are saying much the same as me mate, and understand (although like me, don’t condone) the human nature element causal factor. You definitely have slightly more distaste than me in the footwear issue though!

I did only see the video clip and did not see his earlier behaviour. If he was being really violent then the police do have to take whatever measures necesaary to restrain him. I still don't think the kicking and rough treatment at the van door are justified though.
