have you checked the breather pipe on the inlet manifold ,mine was put on in the place and did the samething

 

Thanks for all your help and advice guys, really nice to find a forum where everybody is so eager to help. Going to see my mate tomorrow who builds race engines and get him to check all the hose work as a precaution ( would do it myself, but he WANTS to!!). Would the glitch on the ecu suddenly just come to light now? I am going to replace the ecu with a scoobyecu (mainly so I don't have to spend £30 a month on OB's!), but getting hold of one seems to be like finding gold at the end of the rainbow at the moment!! I will keep you all posted as to how I get on this weekend, am keeping my fingers crossed, as I am beginning to dislike driving her!
