I prefer the format, MCNNinjas current site (which I'm admin on) is a php site and have been running since last april. We have some bugs which have manifested over the last few months which are a bit of a pain .

I LOVE the new feature of being able to read the first few lines of a thread without clicking on it. Some Lovely features......

The reason for the 1970 dates:

This board software stores dates differently as to you'd normally write them down. 1010185200 translates as 04 Jan 2002 for example.

The 1010185200 is the number of seconds since the Epoch, which is the start of the Unix time system - midnight 1st January 1970.

Any users who registered on the UBB board (the version prior to the ASP board that was hear until today) will have had the joined date converted from a date stored in a static UBB member file. This cannot be converted properly, unlike the dates in the MySQL database for the ASP board, which have been retained fine.

If PHP can't convert the timestamp into a proper date it defaults to 01/01/1970, hence people's reg dates being this date.

Have to agree with most here, it doesn.t look good at all and is a bit on the slower side. shame.

1970, I wasn't even born then, and how many people would've heard of Subaru back then.

A bit bizarre with all the new bits you can click on but sure I will master it soon enough, are the moderators names going to be in a different colour than the blue of everyone elses?

Default WTF?

I assume the new look brings new functionality so good.

Don't like the colours and in particular don't like the width - you now have to go hunting to check the number fo replies to each thread whereas before they were right next to the titles.

Why do I have to put a title in this reply bit?

My post count seems to have gone down a bit too - I was over 4100 a few days ago???

Also why does it say under "Posting Rules" that I may not post attachments?

Did whoever designed SN3 get lost in a Rippeed shop while doing so? There seems to be a lot of garish graphics and fake carbon fibre!

hmmmm another vbulletin classic. Trouble with that is, it now just looks like every other bbs out there.

[Laurence-L-Bowen]
I prefer SN2 with its simple clean lines, it just looked much more classier....

Here we are then. First impressions - too orange. Seems to be a bit faster than yesterday though.

Is there a search still? I suppose things like VIPs and Fave threads have gone?

And I really don't like subscription forums like 'super muppets' and the lounge thing. Far too smug and elitist especially with discriptions like this is where the 'superior beings' are. (bit sad really imho)

My post count has gone down too. It was over 4k before.

What's the difference between 'quick reply' and a 'regular reply'?

Quick reply is on the same page as the thread so no need to wait for a new page to load. Could be handy if you want to refer back to what you are replying to without needing 2 windows open.

Yup - think there are a few teething troubles:
1) Missing Topics in some forums
2) Favourites have dissapeared
3) Post Counts have gone down
4) Joined dates are wrong for many users
5) Search isn't working - needs indexing

In Scooby General these have been mentioned and a few others, and apparently things are being worked on.

Not all the smilies are b&w

Damn - they are now, weren't earlier, not animated any more either! Expect they will make it back in due course. May have to find examples of the old ones and host them if not!

Nope, not for me. Not going to do any Queenie speeches, but i doubt i'll use it as a recreational resource now, rather just an occasional information source.

Big shame. But hey, it's "progress", right...?

You'll get used to it! VBulletin is one of the best on the market - and besides, its the people that make the site, right?

I'll give it time. I use a fair few forums using VB and they have plus and minus points. Looks like the new 'pay for view' forums should keep the main idiots at bay, and I dont mean muppets.
