Jeez Phil, give the guy a break. You can't reasonably expect a Prodrive employee to volunteer commercially sensitive information when, at end of day, it's International Motors who will decide what is, and what isn't offered to UK customers.

Mike's previous comments on this thread make clear that there's nothing waiting "in the wings" for the '03 model year cars, and that while it's possible that some of the bits they've developed for the WR1 could be used on an earlier model, they "don't know" what will happen.

One of the problems with this whole "will they, won't they?" business is that comments made by dealers to customers, or indeed here, are taken out of context, misquoted or otherwise distorted. If you want solid information on which to base purchasing decisions, the only solution will be to wait until there's an official announcement.

dealers are giving info that their demo models have 320bhp presumably by prodrive in 03 models as i have driven one
it would be nice to think that subaru would do like mitsubishi did and gave £1500 towards evo8 for owners of evo 7's as well as offering the fq 330 package for £1500.
mind you i would not be seen dead in an evo (only joking)

well - my dealer got my deposit off me with lots of chatter about twin scroll turbos / the "British C Spec" etc.. So I was genuinely thinking of taking the 8-10K hit switching from my low milage 03 STi PPP (which I love). But it looks like it simply isn't good enough - I'm going to pull my order I think

It doesn't have a twin-scroll turbo, and is the same weight (in fact a fraction heavier) than a standard MY04 STi Type UK.

However, it is as close to a Spec C as you can currently buy through the UK dealer chain. Ultimately it's up to you...

A uk spec c well it would need more than just the A-DCCD to be in with a chance (a lightweight body and uprated engine internals would help to start with )
Its basically an MY03 with a quickrack and A-DCCD plus a mechanical diff instead of a suretrack item, everything else is the same (unless changed by ProDrive).

No Tony, you're missing what he said. The dealer didn't claim it's a "UK Spec C", the term used was "British spec c".

Thus, like our politicians, you can fully expect it to be overweight, not live up to promises and generally not be what it claims to be.
