Dunki ...
It has all of the spec that you listed in your initial post. Plus uprated Prodrive Suspension and a whole host of extras that I don't have the time to post up just now.

Just to let you all know, I was about to chop my Sti8 against this and decided against it.
The only difference between the WR1 and an STi8 with PPP, 18-inch flitters, prodrive spring kit is the plaque saying what number it is, the colour and of course, the DCCD.
Before you ask, there is another generation PPP waiting in the wings for post-release of the WR1 which will give a standard STi 8 slightly more power (330 bhp) but for same money as the ppp it replaces (the current one). Price between the two? The WR1 is more, to the tune of 1,3K. So if you REALLY want a plaque, boring paint and the tantalising DCCD, order one.
I,m gonna kit my car out as it is, with the next gen PPP.
P.S, I have this all in writing from Sub U.K.

Let me assure you, there is not another performance package 'waiting in the wings' for 03MY STi. It may well be that some elements the kit we have developed for WR1 could be used on an earlier car but at this stage, we don't know.
PS You forgot the driving lamps, mesh grilles, gear **** and tax disc holder
PPS Is your car WR Blue??

Mike,
I was told by the dealer that I bought my car from that a short while after the release of the WR1, the same power upgrade would be available for the STi8 in the form of a next gen ppp. Your message seems to suggest that such a mod would not be possible (I may have misunderstood) but in theory, how could it not be possible, unless the engines of both cars are that different, that the STi lump is incapable of maintaining reliability with that power output. How different can the engines / mapping / settup be? I wouldnt have thought that for 5-6k more, the WR1 owner was getting a totally revised lump.
What I was told, from a marketing perspective seemed feasible. Have I been duped? You being a Prodrive man must be in a position to say whether all / some / none of the above is misguided?

Interested in this as well Mike, I have an MY03 STi and have been considering the PPP, if the 'next gen' will be available for this model then I will wait a while before purchasing.

Sir Fozz,
this may all amount to nothing as we have the man from Prodrive on-thread, and he say "no". But I was told that whatever can be done for the WR1 engine WILL be available for the STi8. Must be true cos they are more or less the same car. (Dont get on high horses you lot, its not that far from the truth). I'm gonna hang on for fitting my PPP. Deffo!

i was told the same re the new ppp having 320 bhp by 2 different dealers .Before the wr1 came out rang prodrive to ask if ppp was being upped and was told there were no such plans The wr1 with 320bhp appears and dealers are being given info presumably from prodrive re ppp increase, that is why i got the tsl triple 3 which one dealer has already commented is much smoother and more driveable than ppp it is

In time, after we have tested it properly, it may be that the package we are developing for the WR1 can be fitted to an 03MY STi. It may even be possible that existing cars could be upgraded, but at the moment WE DON'T KNOW. What is for sure is that existing cars will not be upgraded by a reflash only, we are fitting different/extra parts to the WR1 when compared to 03MY.
And another thing, can we stop using STi7/STi8 to describe the cars please. If you want to use this number sequence (that stopped at STi6) then an 03MY STi should be an STi9 and hence a WR1 is an STi10.

Angel Gabriel,
re the only difference...as Mike says there are a few other bits and pieces....
Oh and of course the WR1 is a standard unmodified car...whereas an STI Type UK PPP, with springs, 18" wheels, driving lights, mesh is modified...

Would love to catch up with you sometime. I spoke with Gavin at TSL and he said someone from up my way was down getting some work done. I have a sti7 with the early PPP (piggy back one before Ecutek)

Sorry Mike, I have a 02MY Sti. First one in Scotland with the first PPP too I'm told. I have recently fitted a Secs system, but can't see true boost pressure, because of the mother/daughter board arrangement I am told. Does this make sense?
I won’t be needing a WR1, as I have done the Prodrive springs, Prodrive Wheels, Quick shift, Gear ****, Anti lift kit, anti roll bar, solid drop links, Sti strut brace front and year, goodridge hose’s, DS2500 pads, etc, etc, and all the cosmetic bits and pieces too.
I have asked Subaru would they give me a new style PPP, but was told no. Reason I asked it that I intend keeping the car 4/5 years and generally worry about the piggy back PPP; Isn’t that what we used to criticise superchips for? Subaru told me nothing to worry about as the car is covered by warranty, but only for three years I told them back!
Would sure appreciate your thoughts on this Mike.
Regards,
Jools Coghill.

Rum,
Your point about mods is a damn good one. The WR1 is an "unmodified" car, where as mine is a very modified car in the eyes of insurance companies. Be interesting to see where the insurance companies place the WR1 against a 04MY Sti. If it is the same group, and you were going to do so what so many of us done regarding PPP, wheels, springs etc, there could be fairly good cost savings to be had over a 4/5 year period by having the WR1 in the first place, rather than buying a new Sti and then adding all the bits that should be on it from the get go...
Jools
Don’t you think we would have to loose the burger boy Corsa silver mesh! What’s that all about; are we supposed to think that there is a big front mount hiding in the back of the grill there somewhere?

No offense taken ...
I was trying to point out the insurance implications ... standard car or modified car
Other than that and what you've said above I accept what you are saying...
Heres an interesting point tho...what if you like the Ice Blue colour...????

Rum was speaking for insurance purposes. The WR1 is classed as unmodified because that's how it's delivered to the dealers. Therefore it'll be cheaper to insure as opposed to an STI 8 with all the bits.

The way Superchips (and others) used to do it is by fitting a bleed vavle to raise the boost and then stop the boost cut by capping the boost sinal below the cut out threshold. The system we used does not alter the boost control system in any mechanical way, but recalibrates the system electronically without going inside the ECU. The important thing to remember is that it's been thoroughly tested in all conditions and doesn't affect your warranty.
Mike
PS Angel Gabriel, 04MY should be an STi10 if STi6 was 00MY

...another interesting point to ponder on is that our rates (and I believe we are STILL the only insurer with rates ) are actually cheaper for the WR1 then our rates for STI Type UK PPP...this is mainly due to the fact that the car is standard i.e. straight out of the box ...
Alas our rates are presently only for over 28's and where the car is garaged...
