right guys this is the score, chris at egger lawson can offer us these rates ( and maybe better them ) if we get 20 or more people interested in track day insurance for saturday 7th February at bedford Autodrome.
the rates are as follows:-

Option 1 or Option 2

sum insured £10000 or £15000

Excess £1000 or £1500

standard premium £123 or £173

SIDC Premium £86 or £121

this is only valid if :-

1/ 20 or more cars are insured for the day

2/ the sum insured is a minimum of 50% of the total value of the car

it is highly recomended that if you are taking your pride and joy on track that you take out insurance , do not think it won't happen to you

all that aside you WILL have a great day at a fantastic venue
once we have got the 20 takers then i will proceed
regards
John B

John is that insurance cover only for one driver? As my dad was interested and coming and having a go in my car as well, or is the driver irrelevant it's the car that is insured?

James,
I donot have a name, however, I was told it was covered as long as it was not a timed event i.e, racing. The Pleasure under Social, Domestic and Pleasure part covered it. I did explain the whole thing to them and stated clearly that it was on private land, they have also added my brother to the policy for the day for £10.93p!

I HAVE ONLY HAD 4 EMAILS FOR THE INSURANCE DEALS, WE NEED ANOTHER 16 TO GET THE DISCOUNTED DEAL!!!!!!!!!

be very carefull when talking to your insurance company and make sure they fully understand what the day is about. do not try and hide anything from them otherwise you will lose.

Would be very interested to see how they take the measurements with what sort of meter, at what weighting dBA or dBC? I am a sound man so reguarly come across the council idiots who don't know their ar** from their elbow! B17ADP u will be out of luck if they measure in dBC as that takes into account all frequencies below 100Hz unlike dBA, so deepening the exhaust note more will only reult in a rise in dB levels! All these noise restirctions are so weather dependant and IMHO there are so many whingers out there however quiet you make it, somebody will always moan.
LOL Do you have any idea how right you are?

Met,

I'd say you have zero chance of passing noise regs with that exhaust setup. Get the standard back box on it before you leave the house to avoid disapointment!!!

Have fun,

Matt

Matt

Gonna take my own meter along, it's only a cheap one but i have had it callibrated by the guys who do all the noise measurements for all the large UK festivals. So it's dead accurate! Will be an interesting comparison.

Have now got a full scoobysports decat waiting to go on the car, do you think there is any point in fitting it before bedford or am i just going to fail the noise test straight off?
Don't really want to have to fit it just to do the measurements and take it back off again!

Dan.

Right have just put on the scoobysports downpipe (all the turbo bolts came off first time quite easily, amazing!) , so car has got downpipe and sccobysports (H&S Type) backbox on it.
Meters out at 94 dBa, maeasurements taken in accordance with bedford rules, eg: 50cm from tailpipe at 45 degree angle at 4.5k rpm. Will fit the centre and post results later when i have got it. Looks like it will pass the noise test easily as it stands though. BTW that is on a standard turbo (TD04)

Just hope that the weather is not foggy as my P1 with Scoobysports DP, centre section and old scoobysport (H&S) backbox failed on one famous occasion after passing several times before..
It passed the static easily enough but not the drive by, which is in 3 separate places around the circuit. I can also advise you that they really won't be interested in anything that your meter says - their main noise meter seems to be effectively several grave dodgers in the (3 miles away)village.....

Take a standard backbox if you've still got it - my P1 passed after replacing the H&S with one of the twin pipe peashooters, although it rattled teh whole time and was inaudible. It only takes 5 minutes to swap them over.

Myself and the scoobycity team will be attending this event.

I will not be on the track though as the R has a rather loud exhaust.

I will be taking photos of all the cars taking part plus loads of photos of the - Goings on - of the day also.

I am looking forward to this event greatly.

I will be posting all the pictures up on Scoobycity web site afterwards so all feel free to browse and take copy any picture you would like.

cant believe you guys have got the DB levels below 100 at only 500mm away from teh back box.

I carried out a test on a members R the other day at it was at 119 DB at 1.5 Mtrs away at 45 degrees.

Will be a great day, and the track is - spot on for imprezas

Glenn,

Further to your enquiry, I'll almost certainly be attending the event.
