luckliy i no more find myself chased by such people than i find poor people running after me when i wander around tescos.
BMW drivers have this tendancy to feel too complacent on the road.

Reality is the number one weapon against BMW drivers.

And to always mention money/financial status somewhere down the line - strange isn't it?

"strange isn't it?"

not really....we have it so we mention it, same way as you lot have big spoilers and wheels more colourfull than my crimbo tree. you even have your own gallery forum to discuss such things....you dont find a "display your wealth" forum on BMW sites

Question

I was referring more to the way you belittle others for not having money than they way you flaunt it as illustrated by:
luckliy i no more find myself chased by such people than i find poor people running after me when i wander around tescos.
And another thing, if you think as you do about Scoob owners why are you hanging around on a Scooby forum rather than with your own kind on one of the obviously more upmarket BMW forums?

No offence intended - just questions - you see I'm writing a thesis called "Inside the mind of the BMW owner"

Tiggs really does confirm all my opinions of BMW drivers (and people from Henley come to that).

Is it just BMW drivers though or Merc etc too? Is it really that BMW drivers this, BMW drivers that, Scooby drivers are...etc bo**ocks or just that it is something to attack because it is different to what you want/have or your taste if just different and IMHO the majority of people use sweeping statements and stereotypes that are complete rubbish. All walks of life drive all types of cars. FACT

Buy what you want. Drive it. Enjoy it. End of.

Yes, same for a 18 year old Saxo VTS driver. Race against a BMW 540i if you want, smoke it, and enjoy it. End of.

You know I thought this thread was going OK until the jealousy set in.................

What I will say is that a 540 is well within the grasp of a prospective Impreza owner- I've seen good ones from 15K up- the price of a Mondeo/Vectra. They offer a lot of flash for the cash.

I was 18 when I got my VTS, you won't find many sub 20/21 year olds with VTSs, most have to do with a VTR (unlucky I say! ). I got it 'coz I wanted it, not 'coz of their image. They're fast for an 18 year old, handle, look good and have all the mod cons except air con (slow you down ). I've grown up around cars, and am now bored of the VTS after 6 months, I'm getting a Clio Cup come March time. Don't understand why everyone slates the VTS, has anyone who has slagged them off on here driven a VTS? :rolleyes

Tiggs, the poor people in Tesco comment was class! It amuses me how much people who like BMWs get up tiggers' nose.

Oh, and no one in their right mind would aspire to a 318 Compact, they're awful things. Slow, don't handle and look, er, $hite. Unless we're talking E46 325 Sport Compacts, I'll pass thanks!

Rich,

Trouble is I want to believe that not all BMW owners are tossers, but the evidence always points to the contrary

As for getting up my nose, not really as I don't have to deal with them in real life - see the banter on here as a bit of a sport really (most of the time anyway).

tiggers.

P.S. Do you call yourself Rich in the hope you'll one day own a BMW? Maybe Dick would be a better choice

Blimey! Just caught up with this thread.

I have to say the most shocking thing really is that Cosworth has developed a sense of humour and discovered the : + D trick

LOL at tiggers, class mate Maybe Dick would be more appropriate if I one day climb the ladder enough to be able to afford an E46 M3 I know it's only banter

Tiggs - you got extended warrenty? Don't want those cats going on you, they're around £600 each Then will come the rear upper arms at £103 each, and rear lower balljoints at £35 each at the same time, plus labour and VAT. Then there's the Xenon headlight bulbs at £80 each etc Apologies if car is still under warrenty

I'm a little tipsy, been out drinking since 6pm, and I've got work in less than six hours. Ouch. So I'm sorry if this doesnt make sense!

funnily enough i just took out an extension on the cover last week when it had its first MOT, as its 3 years old in january - also had a chunk out the sidewall of the front tyre so £250 for a tyre and £600 for cover!!! (expensive MOT....even for a BMW owner )

for good reason...when i turn on my lights they auto level and shine daylight down the road. On the scoob they were about as bright as the glovebox torch on the beemer!

If you lived in Sheffield you could probably afford an M5.

Still I somehow guess you wouldn't be prepared to live in Sheffield would you now?

Ah, mention the 540 ......... First time I've matched strides with a 540i was yesterday. I blatted away from the lights and moved over to nearside lane expecting him to come by. (He did not like my T16 Turbo nipping into 'pole' position at the three lane traffic light stop. After all, he drives a BMW so obviously has first choice of the road and expects lesser types to give way .. )

I used all the old T16 turbo's horses and fully expected him to come by at some stage as his car's appearance and attitude suggested it should but it did not until I lifted off for more lights ahead. It was a **53*** car in that Oyster Metallic colour and it was bloody obvious that he was trying. With a 0-60 of around 6.2 I now see why it was not so easy for him to get alongside even until I lifted off after snicking into third.. to have pressed on further would have not been on .....

Rather proud of the old girl who when asked to lift her skirts and perform .... did so admirably.... And before any knowalls come back with that old torque steer malarkey cobblers, MY car ran straight as a die!

Those Krautmobiles and their drivers .... They don't like it up 'em Capn Mainwaring ....

if i lived in sheffield i could afford 9!

i made the comment though as sheffield man clearly didnt read the posts thus far and so posted assumptive rubbish....so i asumed he was a scummy poor bloke in a ****ty part of the land and posted accordingly.

I actually quite fancy a nice 540i and no, my budget won't stetch to an M5 - I do need to eat after all.

286Bhp maybe isn't hugely amazing, but with 4.4 litres comes shed loads of torque. I like my M3 Evo but sometimes I think I would like a nice comfy saloon.

p.s. I don't know what stereotype I fall into for owning a BMW, I simply saw the car, liked it, drove it and bought it.

eeerrrm, i would think it not wise for an old girl to lift her skirt. i can't imagine it to be a pretty admirable sight
