Remember you are the customer tell PE what you want from the remap
I was talking to Merv when I took my car in and he was insistent that PE would give the best map for the car in terms of power, reliability, MPG etc. They have over 300 possible maps for my model and I'm very happy with what I got without going into detail about my requirements. Believe me, I 've used PE for over 15 years and these guys know what they are doing.

As well as the extra power & torque the car seems much happier at lower revs, before 30mph in 4th would mean the car was struggling but now the engine is much more tractable & willing.

I'll post again at the end of the week when I can report on the fuel consumption of the new map.

Gary (still grinning)

Thumbs up

el crichon wrx, sorry mate didnt get chance to call today as stuck in traffic who were all looking at the snow but will sort it out tomorrow.

Oh yeah my MPG is not much lower than b4 . I was running around 23MPG b4 remap and the last 2 fill ups have produced

20MPG (most of it spent experiencing the new power ) and
22MPG (work runs and a few blats here and there )

Cheers

Neal

Thanks a lot for your job Neal.

I was told that the stock MY01 injectors are 380cc and they will not handle the VF34, so I bought STI 550cc.

It'as a pitty P.E. can't remap MY01 with STI 550cc.
All ECUTEK U.S. tuner do that...

I was building a stage 2.5 with a VF34, 550cc sti, walbro FP, bellmouth 3" decatted DP and now I can't go to P.E. to have the job done.

too bad... :-(

edit :

Neal, I have an idea !

Perhaps it's possible to keep the stocker injectors, and to push the pressure of the fuel rail, with my better fuel pump ?

Instead of 550cc injectors, just a FPR and eventually some parrallel fuel rail, like MRT or Perrin ?

Do you think that could be done, keeping in mind I don't need the last horses from the VF34, just great driveability and torque !

P.S. That is still a great G.B. Neal : #1 !

Question

I had a reply from Stephen Done himself :

The 01 cars have 380cc injectors and so are much more of a problem. Ian probably thought that you were talking about a 99/00 car, since they are the cars that have 440cc injectors. Also 99/00 cars are much harder to tune with uprated injectors than an 01/02. This is probably where the confusion is coming from.

I hope it's that !

I'm still waiting PE answer to my email !

What's happening at Power Engineering ?

They're on holidays ?

They don't even respond to customer's emails...

I still don't know if they will remap my MY01 with VF34 & STI505cc

Well, that's put a spanner in the works.

I have decided to give my car a 'few' more mods:

VF34 Turbo
FMIC
550 Injectors
Uprated fuel pump and reg

Anyway I phoned PE and they said that because that lot would would take custom mapping and the fact that a custom map on an MY97 car is a lot of work (soldering the board in etc.) they can't do it for the group buy price. They said they did a custom map on NM's MY98 as a 'favour for organising the group buy'

WTF???!!!!!??? I thought the group buy was for a custom map??

They said the group buy was just for Squirting in a map they already have and tweaking it, not a full custom map.

I just sent an E-mail to robert about sending my deposit back.

Not happy

Looks like it's going to be an Owen Developments mapped Unichip for me then..........

Talking Went Today !

I had my car 'done' today - 98my, so soldered board, plus map. Also, the Dawes and ITG panel were removed and a K+N panel fitted.

Arrived at 9:45, walked into town and returned at 13:00 - to find car done.

Thanks Lads - and to Neal.

262lbs/feet torque and 281 bhp

Nice !

Had the tek2.5 done in early Jan and now I want to upgrade the headers and intercooler. Has any one had a ecu tweek from PE from this group buy. Don't know how much it will cost but I had a word with Chris and he does not like the idea of making further adjustments to suit the new mods. Told me to have a tek3 from BR Devp.
Your views on this please.

Since I had the re-map on Monday, I've found that my knocklink is somewhat 'different'. I get a steady first green from 4-5k, then a second 5-6 with a 'sometimes' of the first orange above that - I've only really tried that sort of rev range in third, so I don't know about other gears.

Reckon this is ok ? - Prior to the map, I NEVER had an orange.... But, I didn't have 281 horses neither.....

I had my remap done today. 282BHP and 275 Lb/ft. The car was running on Optimax and has full H&S exhaust system with a sports cat in the downpipe and a K&N panel filter.

I havn't had the chance to play too much yet but the immediate impression is the smoothness and the hike in torque both on boost and off.

I'll wait to see how bad the mpg penalty will be.

Many thanks, NM on organising this group buy.

Just had my MY00 done today, topped out at 282 brake horses and 272 torques Nice one CHris!

Was surprised that the first run with just standard car with hayward n scott full decat and JR racing panel filer was about 257 bhp!

Had 200 mile drive home to try the car out, but feels well torquey esp at motorway speeds in 5th. Pulls hard thru rev range without any hesitations.

Must get a quiter backbox tho, was a bit boomy on way back home!

Just got back from PE.

Well happy with the results,

274 BHP and 272LBs of torque on MY99 with full Magnex De-cat and K&N induction Kit.

Cheers to Chris for sorting out the other problems with the car and cheers to Neal for sorting out the GB.

How was your mpg on your motorway journey home?
I am currently getting 20mpg with a standard MY2000 car ,which just has exhaust mods and want to get ECU upgrade but am bit concerned fuel consumption will be even lower.
Just a query really,I know I am getting addicted to Scooby Power and road holding and will prob. do Ecu anyway.

Not sure on MPG, but it seems to be pretty good, used just under half a tank on the 102 mile journey home, and I was caining it!!!!!

MY00 with PE map and full decat. Full tank has given between 220 and believe it or not 270. This is for 50 litres so around 11 gallons. Must say prior to map it was averaging 240 a tank so not a great difference
Go for it you know it makes sense

Hi guys,
big day today - had the tek 2 group buy upgrade from PE done - bloody M25 , 2 hrs to M25 - 2hrs to uxbridge!! , was well worth it though , what a difference , mid-range is pretty awesome , car's smoother and pulls stronger - pretty impressed. Final figure was 264BHP/260LB/ft(will post graph when i've scanned it). I was hoping for 270+ , but after talking to chris he said it was a good figure considering the amount of boost dialled in(16.7psi so far on secs monitor) , de-cat centre and K&N panel filter(out came the itg!!). Need the downpipe next , chris reckons with that and abit more boost , she should be in the 280's - nice.

thanks to neal and PE , very professional set up and agreat set of guys

Back on this Group Buy... :-)

Since P.E don't want to make custom remaps on major engine mods (VF34, 550cc, etc...) I re-sold the stuff and just sent an email at P.E to book for the 26 or 27 this month.

Hope to have some good news from them, at last...

Question

NM,

Do you know how much they charge for a custom map on an allready installed phase 1 board (my98) to suit 550's, 20g turbo, front mount etc?

Cheers

George
