Guy here at work get 30 mpg out of his pre bugeye subaru turbo. The ITR has also got cheaper tyres which don't need changing in 4's. You MUST CHECK the oil on the ITR regularly as it is vimportant to the longitivity of the engine. Oil changes are cheaper for hondas then subarus, and the point about reliability is an unfair one, from what I have read both cars are as reliable as each other, I know the clutchs on the subarus are v expensive 500 quid!
As has been said before take an ITR out on a nice clear day put the window down and get additcted to Vtec bliss. The pump and roar are quite amazing!
Go on the honda forum as above and I am sure a local owner will take you out and show you the ropes. Your mates GTI-6 doesn't stand a chance.
Then there are always the modification should the vtec lose its effect on you!

Thanks again for the advise.

If all 4 cars where lined up at the start line of brands hatch. which one would win???

also, how does each of the drive on the road, never driven a ITR, GT4 or A3, and had a brief go in a scooby.

I think its fair to say that the BM is out the window for definate, and one of the above wlill replace it soon

Fiat coupe turbo?

Quick and good value...dont buy a dog and you shouldnt have any problems.
Suppose it is similar to a type r because its a fast front wheel drive car , its got all the usual toys inside and resonable mpg.

You can get some extra power easily as well.

If its pure handling and feedback you want, then its either an ITR or an E30 M3, depending on what wheels you want driven from that list.

IMO

He wanted something with bulletproof reliability- not a Fiat Coupe.

Still think the Integra is the clear winner here, although bear in mind that in a straight line sprint even a standard UK Impreza is faster.

Faster but maybe not quicker.

The GT4 ST205 is faster although it has the same top end more or less. It is just a lot easier to do it than in the Impreza. You really don't feel like you are ragging it.

How often do you cruise at top speed in a straight line anyway? There's no point in getting a Scoob if that's what the plan is.

When you say not quicker in what sense do you mean? In the sense that an Integra is faster to 60mph, 100mph? Top end?

Sorry to say that while I think the Integra is the better car it isn't the faster car (in a ImprezavIntegra straight line drag).

If you mean it has better brakes, much less understeer and is more nimble then I'd agree. Never had chance to do any track days in an Integra though so I can't be sure.

I meant an Impreza is quick on short bursts. It is a rally car. It is not that easy to drive fast over long distances. There are easier cars for that.

I'm not sure of the Integra but the ST205 is easy to drive fast but it is not as quick as the Scoob.

Hope that makes sense.

Example: My Scoob was quicker than my ST205 if I was going down the A3 to Guildford from Wimbledon. The ST205 was 20 - 30 minutes faster getting me from Wimbledon to Pembroke (and used half the petrol).

Raises hand to ITR.
Bit biest as I have one but wouldnt look at another car now.

There not masively loud, if anything just right as it gives it the rawish sound thats so good, if you please you can swap the tyres to get a quieter set ( Bridgestone cater for both ).
The Vtec is massive fun, people complain you have to rev to get the car working......and? They must either be pocket rocket lover in the closet or there not driving it right.

MPG is pretty decent, im gettin 230miles to £30 and I drive very spirited. Two new tyres for winter set me back £150 and got a Honda laser aligment @ £50 done.
Oil change was £22.50 which even included the oil!
The handling seriously is the best in any FWD and Ive yet to have a car out handle me, bar a scooby on a rainy day, and Ferrari 360 and a old Audi Quattro ( ok so havent had much competition to really test it).

Most people will stick with the 15" as there perfect for the car looks and handle wise. Some people have gone the 17" route, half will say tram line and stuck the 15s back on, other half say theres no problem.

Then there the modding, it gets ££££ to get bhp, but for the love of god get a new exhaust on, just had mine done with 5Zigen and it sound amazing really makes the car stand out even more.

If youre ever up North Wales area id be more than happy to scare you, I mean give you a drive!

One thing I will say about the Integra is if you take it out for a ten minute test drive you won't buy it. It is a car you really have to live with and learn to get the best from.

It is not natural to rev a car to between 6000 and 9000 rpm and takes some getting used to, but once you have you'll never look back. It is also hard to learn the limits of the cars handling because they are so damn high.

As for the Fiat Coupe suggestion - don't make me laugh - apart from the fact it's a Fiat which means you'll have to get to know a garage well it's more fashion accessory than sports car.

The Integra is totally focused. For instance there are alloy strengthening braces everywhere to make it rigid and even the windscreen is made out of thinner glass than standard to save weight.

OK enough, but before I go I should say that I think the Integra whilst not the out and out fastest of your choices will give you the most long term driving pleasure.

tiggers.

Only thing that stops me going above 7k is the stupid limiter

Put foot on floor, wait for needle to hit end of counter, change gear, only thing to do when booting it surely

Hi, back again after a few days of thinking,

A3 is out of the window, too normal !!!
GT4 ST205 - great car, but for the money i need to spend, the car s too old.

So it is a scooby vs integra type r

I spent about 4 hours on grand turismo 3 last night, driving the integra and scooby round and watching the replays so i can get a good look at the car. In the end i liked the look of a white integra with anthrosite 6 spokes, also the silver scooby had the same wheels, but didnt like the other choice of colours

So, now i need a test drive.

From what i have read on this post alone is that the integra will suit my needs better than a scooby. i dont think i need the extra power of the scooby, and like the look of the integra.
As i said, the main things are reliability and cornering, and both the cars are v good at that, 0-60 on both is good enough. Ive got a video clip of an integra vs scooby type r on the track, the result is less that a cars length, so thats good for a integra as every one knows the type r scooby is v quick. also the running costs of the scooby do put me off, yes its a mega car and everyone loves them, but im not rich, so the integra wins that.

thanks again for all the advise.

Im sure i will still be asking questions till i buy one, just gotta sell the bm. but the integra is looking like the winner

if so, how do they compare.

just wondering, although still favour the integra at the mo.
