Ok - Moray, I'll modify that last sentence - the brakes on the sti are a bit naff - but only at the limit - you get immense amounts of fade - saying that my brakes are standard and even with a slightly modded motor they are up to the task 99% of the time

Of course they are nowhere near as good as after market 4 pots!

Moray - do you now have a Motec'd car with uprated turbo?

Cool

Steve,

You state that your mods will make the car handle at least as well as a scooby on leda suspension... Just out of interest... Have YOU actually driven a subaru impreza with leda fitted? If so, how long did you get to try it, more than a week?

You can't just assume that because leda works one way on a ford, it will be just the same on another car. Sorry.

Oh, and yes, I do have a working motec now...

... And (I remember) you noticed the difference between the standard sti brakes and a decent set of stoppers... uprating the brakes means you can safely improve your pace... it's equivalent to adding a serious amount of horsepower in terms of improved pace.

This BBS is starting to **** me off now - thats the second time the message has disappeared mid sentence!

So Moray - how does the Motec feel - do you have antilag and launch control?

So what were the power figures?

Is the turbo really that much better - I presume you paid over £1k for it - or is my presumption misinformed?

You are being paid far too much!

As far as Leda goes, as you are blatantly aware I have not had Leda on my car - Yes I was commenting on Ford and not Subaru - still I've experienced it once and have no reason to belive that if its a f*ck up on one car theres no reason to suggest it wont be on another

I think I'll opt for AP having seen the stopping results in a number of cars! - albeit it was slightly wet on the road for yours!

Moray, talking of clutches from another section, hows yours for town driving? - will upgrade to this when mine fails - which I suspect is imminent!

I don't think Moray likes the track or strip, which is really a shame as those gadgets aren't therefore being used to their full potential! All that power and launch control at The Pod???? YIPPEE!
Perhaps he doesn't wanna be beaten by 'lesser' cars, eh Moray?
Stick to your traffic lights mate!

Stef,

Slick reply there Stef! How's the patient? Doing well, I hope.

I did Avon Park Raceway once in my previous WRX 5dr (260/260 at PE)... 13.2sec over the quarter. I have been out on a couple of track days... but I prefer the sheer fun and amount you learn at MIRA... and there's less chance of being taken off by someone who has lost control of their car... sideways or not.

Besides, what's the point in treking all the way to santa-pod if the nearest competition is Harj and his, to coin your phrase, 'lesser' car?

More importantly... The full potential of these facilities can't be realised on a simple sunday afternoon drive up a quarter of a mile of dry, grippy, straight tarmac... I'd have thought you would have a better idea about what anti-lag can do for you than that... ho hum...

Moray.

I have never experienced anit-lag, but am sure looking forward to it!
Out of interest though, where DO you get to use the launch-control if not traffic lights?
It'd be great if you came to The Pod at least once though, no pressure, just to see what the car's capable of.
I'm sure we could find a car of equal capability there for you to run against....there's normally a few Funny Cars lying around!

Moray, are you going to sort out a Mira day then in the near future? - count me in!

So do you have adjustable mapping at all on the flick of a switch?

When do you use your antilag, presumably not all the time?

Cool

Steve,

Ok, I will let you know on the MIRA thing... I'm not planning for the immediate future though.

Yes, I have a switched map for 97/95ron fuel.

I only use anti lag very occasionally... it's armed by a switch and time limited to 4 seconds max when lifting off after 95% or more throttle.

Stef,

Maybe see you tomorrow at PS...
