I totally agree.

And this has never been questioned.

Webmaster

It's YOUR neck potentially on the block if something goes wrong. I work in E&O/PI insurance and understand and respect that and I believe most others do also.

Everyone - let's not forget it is US who ultimately decide the success or failure of Scoobynet (2)

I wholeheartedly support Pete and Quattro, both of whom i know in a personal and business capacity. (please do not consider that libellous or slanderous on any one of 20 million individuals who i have not acknowleged or named, either implicitly or explicitly)

My own thought (for what its worth) is that there should be greater consistency and timeliness of moderation and then occurences like the one being discussed here would perhaps be a lot less likely. I say this because the original attack on one supplier on the AP thread by another was not the first instance of this type of behaviour. In fact attacks by this one supplier at many other suppliers have been commonplace for quite a while. So when someone else comes along and puts up an "innocent sounding" post the whole thing goes to pot largely (although not wholly) because of that post and yet nothing is done about all the wrongs committed by everyone else before.

Consistency and TIMELINESS of moderation, therefore is a good start - well i think so.

Sunil

PS Mr Webmaster, i suggest you either edit or remove your comment below as it can be considered libellous/slanderous to cast such slurs on either 1) my ability to read or 2) my knowledge of the law

I would make 2 suggestions..

1) Read the post properly.
2) Study the law.

If you do these things then you will be more fit to comment on this complex issue.

Regards

Simon

The post above this was relevant to your post up until the point that you edited it.

I do not beleive in editing posts in this manner and would rather stand by my comments.

I totally accept that some instances of innapropriate posts are missed / not dealt with. Sunil, you have no idea how much time it takes to read everything on this board. It is not possible.

I rely totally on the information provided by the fantastic moderators and often by people who read a thread and email me directly as a warning that something is wrong (thank you VERY much to all of you).

Just because I / we have missed some, does not mean that we should not act when we don't.

The original thread that was removed, was removed due to potentially libellous comments from about 4 different people about many different companies / individuals. There was no way on this earth we could have let it stay on this BBS after we were made aware of it.

The single post that was removed, was removed due to it being potentially libellous in the context of the thread and that of the thread it was discussing. AND IT WAS DONE WITH THE TOTAL AND COMPLETE CONSENT OF THE AUTHOR!

Are you saying that you feel let down by Scoobynet in that it has failed in its "TIMELINESS"? Or are you just venting anger?

I am sure you are a decent chap and just want to help with your constructive comments. Perhaps you would be good enough to email me with links to the offending threads that we have missed and I will ensure they are considered for removal.

For now, can we please let this rest?

If not, can we at least have a good think about what it is we are actually arguing about, and whether it is in fact worth it?

It is very difficult to help people who just say what they *don't* want, but won't say what they *do* want.

I have no reason to be a bad guy or cause people upset? I am running out of ideas as to how to please everybody. Instead of going over the same things, perhaps you can help improve the community by providing this information.

Regards

Simon

You have misread my point. I am merely trying to offer advice on what could have prevented this whole thing being a crash bang affair, i wont bother anymore.

Thank you for clearing that up.

My humblest apologies for completely misreading your post.

I have no idea why I could have thought that it represented anything other than positive good intentions.

Kind regards

Simon

Is this not perhaps another case for having some form of identity for people that are representing particular companies?
Most, but not all bbs users will know that Pete's from Scoobysport, Mike T's from Scoobymania, Quattro' from BRD and Mike Wood's from Prodrive.
Perhaps this should be made clearer to everyone, and hopefully then encourage everyone to be a bit more careful about what they say, as their company name would be linked to all their postings.
I think everyone has the right to post negative experiences suffered with ANY company, but it is not very professional when competitors get involved in slanging matches.
Just a thought.....

Stef.

Simon,

I have emailed you. I did this last night but it all crashed when we were in 22b Chat. So it has been sent this morning. I hope what i have said makes sense and clarifies my thoughts - which are in now way directed at anyone other than the one entity i originally intended.

Please feel free to mail me back if anything is not clear or whatever.

Exclamation

Simon has been kind enough to phone me on 2 occasions asking if it is "OK" to remove my posts. I said I was not bothered either way and if it helped him then I did not mind.

I think it's time we gave Simon a break here. Quattro has raised some very valid points that Simon has done his best to reply to without losing his rag ( ).

In a perfect world, Simon would not need to delete any posts, but we have to trust his judgement as webmaster when he feels it is necessary to do so - or do we want to lose Scoobynet again?

Quattro - it would be a shame to lose an experienced poster over this and your input is always welcomed (otherwise the Muppets will start to take over ).

Chris
