Like others, I did not know Dave or Carolyn.
Thoughts go out to Dave and family.

Hi everyone
I was astonished when someone told me yesterday that Scoobynet was closed for the day. It was a great gesture and very much appreciated.
Both Carolyn and I have met some great people through Scoobynet and many of them came to the service yesterday. Some of her work colleagues even came across from Europe to be there. Others were there in thought and I would like to say thank you to those that were present, or have commented on here, or emailed me, for your support, which has been great.
Many people did not even know she was unwell, but she was a very private person, did not like a fuss, and that was her way of dealing with it – she just got on with her life and her job, which was very important to her.
Carolyn was always there to give advice (some of it sometimes unwanted in my case! ) ; plus help and support – not only to me, but also to many other people, and was an inspiration to many others and me.
Carolyn touched upon many people’s lives, not least mine. She was a huge influence on my life for over ten years, as I am only just beginning to realise in many ways.
She crammed many things into those ten years; particularly the last two and a half years since she first became unwell, and we to went many places and did lots of things that will always be fond in my memories. It was particularly difficult given that she was only 33.
The hardest thing for me now is that I have lost my best friend, and I miss her very much.
If I am ever half as well thought of in my life as she was in hers I shall consider myself very lucky
The last few weeks have refocused my view on life and priorities somewhat - we only get one chance in life, so make the most of all of yours.

Josh L has put into words a lot of what I want to say. I had the honour of meeting Carolyn a couple of times.......I am at a loss as to what else to say. I was stunned and deeply saddened by the news and still am.
My thoughts are with Dave and family also.

Nothing more I can add really. It was very moving at the funeral yesterday. I'm sure Carolyn would have been impressed by the number of people who came, the huge number of flowers and warm tributes.
Thanks to Dave and Carolyn's family for making us feel so welcome at Dave & Carolyn's house afterwards.
It was nice to see a good turnout of Scoobs, I'm sure Carolyn would have approved of that!

People say it's not the big things you miss, it's the thousand little things people used to say and do.
The big things have already been said as well as I ever could and I echo those thoughts here and now.
So i'll break from tradition and mention a couple of 'little things' i'll always remember about Carolyn.
Firstly she was a great hostess and throughly enjoyed entertaining. The BBQ last year was particually memorable. Secondly the look on her face as Dave would appear with some new 'have to have it' item always raised a smile. The infamous 'canary fairy' Jordan race suit springs to mind.
All of those who met her were enriched by her presence and are now dimished by her loss.
Dave, we'd just like you to know that you are in our thoughts and prayers in this difficult time.

A very, very sad day made easier by some fine words from the vicar, Dave and Carolyn's father.
For those that didn't know, Carolyn was just 33. She was a very brave young lady and leaves a very brave husband behind.
My thoughts are with you Dave.

Very sorry to hear that. Never met her but read quite a few of her posts when I first joined SN. Closing SN for the day was an excellent idea. Was also tempted to buy her Deep Mica Red WRX from Welchs.
So sad to lose someone at such a young age but it sounds like she very much made the best of her life which counts for a hell of a lot.
My sincerest condolences.
Simon.

Lovely gesture Scoobynet!
I had the pleasure of meeting Carolyn a few years ago at a go-carting event. She was such a lovely happy person.
My thoughts are with you Dave at this very sad time.

I'd rather laugh with the sinners
Than cry with the saints
The sinners are much more fun
You know that only the good die young
I tell you only the good die young
Only the good die young
Dreadful news, but many thanks to Simon for an entirely appropriate response. Dave, I think it's fair to say that you're in all our thoughts right now.

Have to say I dont know either Dave or Carolyn and dont think I have ever read a post of theirs but good idea to close the bbs yesterday.
Must be the hardest thing losing a loved one before their time so I sincerely wish Dave and his family all the very best in what must be his darkest hour.
Take it easy Dave.

Not much more to add to the sentiments expressed above really, Dave, Carolyn's Mum, Dad and her brother Richard & his other half Rachel have peformed like you hope all good families would under such trying circumstances. I really admire them for being so brave and so strong, but how could they not be when Carolyn had set the pace (as ever!). It was a nice service yesterday, and I know that it certainly helped me to think of Carolyn in a positive way at such a terrible time.I hope that it gave at least some comfort to her close ones.
I can't claim to have known Carolyn very well,to my loss, but in those few times that we met her sense of fun and the sheer pleasure she gained from her life, her family & friends, her beautiful house and garden, and most of all from Dave, shone through. I'll miss her.
John
PS Well done to Simon and Shaun

I've only met you a few times Dave, but our thoughts, sympathies and condolences are with you and yours. The "think of the happy times" advice above with mention of the yellow canary had me chuckling...
Regards,
Nick.
