Had a really good day out with the family, still didnt introduce myself to anyone though..so still dont know any of my fellow scooby drivers....but it was good all the same. Some very impressive motors on show....although the highlight was how slow the Audi TT looked with all the scoobies flying past...hilarious my wife always wanted one, but has had a serious rethink now!!!

>even one where you cheekily put your indicator on while catching a slide.

Either that or my hands were thrashing around so much that a finger accidently knocked it and/or the window wipers on

At last some time to post my comments:

BRILLIANT day out and nothing negative from my time on track. Many thanks to all the organisers for their work, much appreciated and a very successful day.

Been on a few sessions with passing on both sides so quite used to it now and I found it nice not to have to come off line to let folk pass, just ease off the throttle a bit, though not often required with only 120bhp. Had a great time, well once the track dried out that is. A few hairy moments when wet, so sorry about being a bit slow then.

I had a rearward facing video camara running most of the session so should have caught some footage of most people, if you just flew past me while I was seting up a shot of you then you won't appear much :-) Mind you did have a front facing one as well so will still have caught most people

Jools knew about the rear facing camera so the best laughs were when he was following me with plenty antics for the video. Excellent tail out stuff while track was drying, though he tried just a bit too much. Plenty passengers had an enjoyable time when we started a double act which was especially enjoyable many times at the hairpin. Managed 23 passenger laps which wasn't bad as some lasted longer than others when the track action got intersting.

Tings went downhill when I got home as my MAC computer played up something terribel when I tried to get the footage onto it. Anyway eventually got Skye to bed, and fell asleep besdie her, so now back up and it appears the rest has done the Mac some good and its working okay now. So just about to start gettingt he video onto it. Will probably be tonight before I get any photos from video up on the web.

Still have a great big grin on my face from today, Supberb day out and great to see plenty Scoobs on track.

Thanks to all the drivers who gave myself and work mates pax laps. most impressive, my scoobie will soon be ready for track use again. Big thanks to Iain for the much extended laps, I think we done about 15 in one go, then found out the camera had run out of tape. Will catch everyone at the next event. :-)

Now where did that spanner go.

Cool

What a great day out, had a great time from the convoy down to the track action. Kinda made getting up at 5am worthwhile. Was also excellent to see such a good turnout.

Good to see the CRD car there, it did get out on track for a wee while towards the end of the session and from a spectators point of view seemed quite competent. Unsure how it faired against the competition though?

I was going to head up to T&C Perth for a look at the 51-plate P1 but they brought it to me instead! Just to find 23k now...

As ever i took a multitude of pics, the higher reolution shots really showing up how inadequate my camera (or me) is for taking those kind of pictures...

I've edited and uploaded them and they can be found here.

Thanks to all who made it happen, myself and Emma are looking forward to the next one already.

Had a great day at my first scooby event even though i arrived late. Even my son enjoyed himself up to 1pm when he was so tired he got really grumpy. A big thanks to the guy who tried to cheer him up by taking his photo and to the guy with white classic sti who took my wife out for some pax laps.

Yep. Great day out yesterday. Pity about the weather though! Forgot how cold KH gets.
Good turnout and nice to meet both old and new faces. Track action entertaining and the overall display of cars was splendid.

Big thanks and well done to the organisers for making it happen.
Also thanks to Town & County for their input and presence. All of which made the day more enjoyable for everyone.

Looking forward to the next one already

Cheers

Hi Folks,
Dont want to be too controversial but....
aside from the boxster, I noticed the Town and County WRX being driven by a bell end. He tried to go up the inside on corners on numerous ocassions.

Just an observation.

Good driving as usual for a SIDC track day, only one exception was the silver Exige which overtook under braking a STI (that I was in the passenger seat of) while going into the hairpin and then spun off immediately afterward. An appropriate hand signal was used which was penalty enough
Colin,

I'm sorry to have upset you for overtaking on the brakes, but with the Exige's 180BHP, I can match the Scooby's acceleration, but not overtake a Scooby on the straights if he doesn't back off slightly.
If the scooby (or more powerful car) fails to understand the fact that a lighter car goes faster by going faster in the bends, and slingshotting out of them as well (wide enty, early throttle), my only option is to pass on the brakes.

Also, when appraching braking it's safer for me to be on another line than the scooby, as they normally brake way before the 100m mark (where I brake), so I'm offline and out of the way. If you started braking early I just follow my normal braking points, therefore pass.

You mention the spin. I'm sorry, I don't normally spin, but it can happen to the best of us.
Also, I didn't see your hand signal, but I can only suppose you were like... saying hello?

I'm a regular at the SIDC trackdays, know several of you guys and like scoobies.
Just wanted to let you know that I was not really driving like a muppet. I understand your point, and wanted to present mine.

Great day at KH by the way!

No problemo mate ! By the end of the session i was used to being amicably pestered from the rear. On the straights the classics can outrun me so it's only to be expected. Only complained on here as I had a major back end twitch as I was going offline which presented some interesting weight transfer issues.

Nice motor bty :0

Cal

ps meant to say the T&C red bug eye driver did seem at tad aggresive. I suppose driving a "company" car would push you a bit further........I would avoid it like the plague if it's being sold as a demo car.

pps Jools - did you take the Scooby on track after the westy bashing ?

"my only option is to pass on the brakes"

No, that was not your only option. You were told at the briefing (along with everyone else) that you should wait and flash your lights to indicate you want past and not tailgate or pass under braking. I was not driving the STI so I was not watching the mirrors but I didn't notice any flash of your lights or how long you were behind waiting to pass, was it any more than 2 corners ? In a 14400 second track session how inconvenient is it to wait for 30-40 secs to pass ?

As far as the spin goes, of course anyone can spin, part of the fun of track days is pushing your car and yourself to the limit. The problem was you knew a car was just immediately behind you that was driving fast, and by doing a power slide you risked a crash if he could not avoid you. It is safer to only try a power slide when the track is clear behind you for 50 yards or more. On the other hand maybe the partially wet track just caught you out, but it didn't look like that from where I was sitting or on the video I have seen.

Obviously you are not a crazy nutter that ignores all the rules and drives like a loony, but a little more patience would be nice.

Cheers RB5-126

Only got a Magnex 6x4 back box and a CAI with cold air feed. It's good for about 215 bhp. I had it RR'd when it was standard with the only the back box on & got 210bhp. Not too shabby. Looks like I might buy Foz's cat back system and get shot of the BB. CAI sounds mental when you hit 6000rpm - I purposefully hit the "zone" when I passed you on your cool down lap to give you the full benefit Still doesn't sound as good as a flat four & sports zort I've been close to buying a Scoob three times now but A) think the service intervals / costs for classics is a joke B) can't stand the thought of ditchin' the CTR. I love the 6 speed box and the fact that it rev's to 8500rpm. Anyway gettin' off topic now !

Movies & pics --------------->

I have some pics of everyone at the chicane and some cool movies with sound.( these include the M5 gettin sideways, the Skyline and that manic sound it makes plus a P1 versus 22b clip. Only got 56k at home so will attempt to upload later tommorow !

Cheers chaps

Cal
