IMI: you believe its as easy as just handing your keys over to the theives/car jackers?

...so you can immediatley call the police?...or that you hand keys over and they give you such a hiding (at best) that you are unable to contact police for a while...


...not that the police are likely to help anyway.

dr ming - earlier u said that the standard imobiliser isn't Thatcham approved. Does that apply to the new STIs (7&8), as I'm sure my manual says cat1 approved?

wideboyuk - in as far as I know, the STI 7/8 has the same engine/ECU immobiliser system as the WRX. I think my manual says the same (can't find it to check), but this is referring to the Sigma system, which is 'standard' fit for UK cars.
