I just noticed this thread yesterday, and am very interested but confused after reading 14 pages of contradictions. I need some answers before committing to cash - and I understand the purchase is imminent - so...
1) Is it the LRC100 at £235 ? (if so it would connect to my b2)
2) Is it actually legal to own/use?
3) Can it really be used as part of a garage door system?
4) How is the deal done?
John

As you have proably gathered, nothing has been finalised -
1) Is it the LRC100 at £235 ? (if so it would connect to my b2) Yes it is and also the Snooper 920X at same price
2) Is it actually legal to own/use?
Its a grey area, but there is no law "at present" to own one.
3) Can it really be used as part of a garage door system?
A similar unit works to open the garage door, you approach your own garage door and the door fires a laser beam at the car, if you are the correct car, you will fire one back and the door opens, the lasers have to match, do not know/understand all details, BUT do not go and buy this if you think you will be able to open other garage doors, or even your own.
4) How is the deal done?
With the £235, just ring up and order over phone, seller will take plastic.

I am going with the lrc and am happy at £235.
everyone seems to think the snooper is inferior and harder to fit and it is not a gallium arsenide laser either.
Spoke with origin, and they only rate the lrc for a reason, so I am happy with that too.
With regard to legality, origin have two customers who are high court judges.
One of whom would try a case against a user for perverting the course of justice, the other would not and would throw it out.
It is open to interpretation.
Apparently, the lrc can be used a garage door opener and the manufcatures (whose details I have been given) will happily issue a certificate stating that this feature has been enabled in the unit and was the reason for purchase.
I was under the impression that modern garage doors were antiscan anti grab devices which emitted at the radio wave end of the spectrum rather than the infrared.

Andy, thanks for your response - and although the thought of driving down the road with garage doors opening themselves spontaneously as I drive past is appealing, it's not my main motivation for having an lrc :-)
... but it would be nice to use the unit for a daily purpose (ie my own door).
Adam M, that sounds encouraging - if you have any further details please let me know.

Weava, I just want one, like everybody else on this thread. I can only go with what the majority want. But IMHO I reckon we will get treated well with the £235 offer, there has been lots of talk about cheaper options, but nobody has got firm prices etc.
Still got 15 mins left...

Andy,
i was just trying to chivvy people into showing the enthusiasm of last week, as a few people from the previous pages have been quiet.
only want to make sure everyone is still in as we will look silly if its just me and you and a couple others phoning for the damn things - lol !!
probably me just being over anxious and the fact that i am bored at home with glandular fever (blood test confirmed this morning - <sigh> ).
you done sterling work on this mate, sorry if you think i am getting impatient - we are nearly there!

No Problem Weava, I am glad you did...
Just that sometimes I feel that its all gone to sh1te, and I started this thread
Glandular Fever is bad, I had it, and apparently you never get rid of it fully. Be prepared to feel drowsy for a long time.

Cheers Andy,
yeah i could not work it out - drowsy all the time and i stopped smoking dope about a year and a half ago when i left uni !
thought it had come back to haunt me in some sort of hideous form of narcotic revenge!
then BOOM! last monday night my throat just swelled rightup and the next thing its tonsilitus.
suddenly thought it must be gladular, cos sister had it and a few years back and i knew symptons.
last two weeks ago was driving home 15 mile jaunt, and could hardly keep eyes open - it was about lunch time. scary stuff - very weird.
so here i am - pi55ed off, but surviving !
retail therapy will see me through at least i am not spending money down pub etc, even given up smoking because of and intend to make that permanent. so more money to spend on scoob !

I am still interested, just thought I'd keep an eye on the price tennis going on. I have read all the pages of this thread now, nearly lost the will to live, however I have a question. I have no detection devices in the car apart from a Snooper S1 (more commonly know as a burgler alarm, traffic light awareness device).
As this is the case, would I be better with the LRC 100 or the 920X ?
Still want one, what do I do next, flexible friend waiting.
O'h its raining and gone cold, looking forward to the drive home now.

Andy,
Can you post up the details for the guy doing them at £235 so we can get the orders rolling?
If not, can you Email me the details direct?

Just phoned Stuart and placed an order for the LRC100.
He's just waiting for the volume before he can release them now.
