theres quite alot of boxters around the sailsbury and always give it large around the main roundabout there all big till the catalunya pulls and they tend to shy away with there gay mates or gold digging bird next to them.
why pay £33000 for a car that can just about pull away from the new astra turbos or seat leon cupra r

I'm not claiming here that the boxster is an inferior car to the impreza etc... (although I'd much rather have a 911 as it's a real porsche IMO)... but some of you need to consider this:
But of course the guys magazines employ to test cars can't drive
There are cars out there that will destroy Imprezas (even tuned ones) but the boxster ain't one of them IMO!
Following on from November we have the Impreza holding its own in a group handling test around Castle Combe Circuit in CAR magazine (subscriptions 01858 435337). It was faster around the circuit (76.83s lap time) than a Porche Boxster (77.52s), etc (rest of the lap times snipped as they have no relevance here).
Their summary of the Impreza was "The Subaru has similar power to the Boxster. It lapped faster. It's a four door saloon. And if it had been wet or bumpy the difference would almost certainly have been greater. An amazing car." And a final caption on a photo...."Impreza Turbo: power, grip, balance. Buy one."

As a proud MY00 Turbo owner I find it almost laughable the amount of crap that is spouted on here. Id hedge a bet that at least 50% of the contributers to this thread havent even been in a boxster S, let alone driven one in anger (lets forget its weedy little sister).
With 260bhp, handling like a go-kart, bags of torque, way superior brakes - the porsche in the right hands would whoop pretty much anything up to 300bhp scoob wise.
The problem you find is that most poeople with a £35k porsche a) Are less inclined to push it that much further b) arent bothered about some jumped up t*t in a jap rally replica c) Dont even know the full potential of their car.
My point is, if you havent seen an 'S' driven well, then dont get too cocky or the joke could be on you.
I for one would rather a Boxster (s or not) than my scoob.
Simon.

No, Boxsters dont get driven fast very often, which is part of the reason they get such a bad rap. But driven properly they are a very capable car. Its just a pity people are so blinkered. Then again for the owners who do drive them fast it must be very satisfying beating drivers who think that a Porsche Boxster S is in the same league as a TT lol!

FWIW, I've raced Boxters on the straights around here to max 70mph, and never have I been overtaken - and yes, they have been trying because there's not a lot of difference.
If I had enough money to buy a Boxter, I wouldn't. Skyline it instead.

Yawn
You know the feeling when a souped and spoilered Nova tries to have a go when you're in the Scooby - This is what it feels like when a Scooby with massive exhaust tries to race you in the Boxster - I just cant be bothered most of the time.
Acceleration wise the cars are evenly matched (my S and my RB5 anyway) up to about 70, then Porsche will GLF!
Boxsters corner well and they can stop properly too!
Also, good looking women look at you in the Boxster, whereas only spotty teenage lads that wear their caps the wrong way around look at you in the Scooby - whatever takes your fancy I suppose. I am married so neither suit me!
Thanks for keeping me entertained!
Cheers
Paul
BTW I think both cars are fantastic in their own way - just horses for courses - I will always have a Scooby as I love rallying etc, but I also like Porkers and luckily I can afford both!

Paul - whilst I agree this is getting a bit dull just bear in mind that there are Scooby's and there are Scooby's.
Whilst you may well have both, you may not spend much on mods - some people do. You may well be as quick as standard UK spec Scooby's but no way will you stay with a 'worked on' STi import thats putting down in excess of 300BHP - come on eh ..........
and as for women I really don't know where you're looking lol :-)

Think Boxsters look nice and if I had the cash I'd buy one, for now I'll stick with the 93 WRX. Its interesting to see that alot of people are saying well the Boxster S wont keep up with a well tuned Scoob with 300+ BHP. There must be some well tuned Boxsters out there too so don't assume that the Boxster S you are about to try and "**** all over" will also be standard.
After the Boxster its got to be a 355!

this can all be summed up like this. How many porsche owners do you know that drive like madmen????? not many..... the best bet would be to swap and see if you still win!

Been away for a few days and just caught up with this thread again. (LOL - What did I start ?)
Anyways, was on the A10 again this weekend and low and behold, who do I catch up at the lights ? The same Boxster, with the same dude and the same wife/girlfriend. Anyway, being the friendly type, I gave him a little toot on the horn. His wife/girlfriend waved but not the dude. Infact, he didn't even look in my direction. It made me laugh though !!! For one split second, I thought he was going to go for it again, but I guess he must have had a flashback or something and put that idea to rest. When the lights eventually changed we both poodled off slowly, but then when we got up to about 60 mph side by side, Mr Boxster puts his foot down and dissapears. I didnt even have time to react, as he was about 5/6 car lenghts in front of me. It went very well from that speed but its a different story from off the lights.
If any Scoobynetters on the A10, watch out for a 02 registered Porsche India red Boxster S. The dude looks like Simon Templer with Aviator shades on. The number plate has a Porsche Owners Club GB crest on the left hand side. If he tries it on with you, then make sure you embarrass his a$$ and send his wife my best regards !!!

Interesting thread-
"You didn't say what the woman in the Boxter was laughing at. "
Turboteeth says
Turboteeth - what car have you got, or do you drive Daddies?

I am on my second Impreza and currently drive a WRX. I am not saying they are not a good car, it's just funny when people think their Subarus are better than everything else on the road...including Porsches!!!
I doubt many standard Scoobs could beat a 944 Turbo on a twisty road.

I think that guy did his research though and realised that it's best to challenge a scoob above 60mph...Anyone know the 60-100 times for both cars?
