Why bother?
I just just chopped my '98 Turbo in for-
4.0litre V8 twin supercharged Jaguar XKR, around 405bhp out the factory before you go to 'Paramount' with £6K and get it up to 475bhp.
As it is now, I out accelerate Darrens baby, as proven last night ! he knows he he.
£28K for stupid power and sheer luxury to boot - bargain !

Yes - but £28k vs £10k..... The jag is fine in a straight drag race - but its hardly a nimble sports car - plus I bet you it will cost a lot more to maintain and lose more value than the 944 in question.

um yeah... what Gastro said Seriously, the jag sounds cool, but after 2 Subarus in 4 years one of the main criteria was a very low depreciating car. The 944 fits the bill. And I am one of those people who has always wanted a Porsche.
There are very few cars that would tempt me away from Subarus as I have enjoyed them immensely. The RB5 went last week and I certainly miss it, but I just cant wait to get back into an exciting RWD car which will give me more driving enjoyment for less money. Roll on Friday!
Nice pics again davyboy. Will hopefully see you at a trackday soon.

Jaguars are proven, especially over the last ten years, to depreciate even slower than a Mercedes ! don't worry about your residual.

As for handling, even with the 18" wheels (as opposed to 20" 'Detroit' performance) the computer controlled suspension and traction control is getting me round corners quicker than my Impreza.

The price - I know how much some of you guys spend on mods, by the end of it you could literally have bought a left hand drive Testerossa !! Anyway, stick it on the finance, no worries.

...depreciate lower than Mercedes - maybe the XK8 - not your model

If it corners faster than your Subaru - then there was something wrong with your suspension on the scoob

Price - lets see what the Jag is worth in a couple of years time

Ok Mr Gastro....Obviously you have test driven loads of Jags !!
How can you make a justified statement on the entire performance of a vehicle unless it has been taken to the limits by yourself.

Just to clarify - there were no faults on my Impreza, it only had 36K on the clock with full Subaru Service.

I have driven the same the roads I used to do in the scoob at full limit, now I go in the Jag and it breezes round, not pushed to limits yet.

Did you know there were less XKR's manufactured than XK8's. The R's have everything as standard AND twin superchargers which the 8's do not have. Either way it IS virtually the slowest depreciating vehicles around.

P.S. I get around 32 mpg too !!
