the northern big one
yup, yup, yup. so what we're ideally looking for is an area of ground(like a big dirty field) with enough parking for a maximum of roughly 450 motors on a sunday, but able to let some people park their car's and camp on the saturday, that's fairly central, doesn't neccessarly have to have a track or strip
(tee, hee, hee), can be run by dumbpuck's like me
and not too expensive! what's the problem here then...
coatbridge it is!

Good input up2 now
BUT what sort of event do we want this to be ???
There appears to be conflicting views on this :
On one side we`re talking bout a hardcore "avin it" motorsport weekend and on the other we`re talking bout a totally non motorsport walk in the park, whereby even if the attendees want 2 press the metal they can`t with out the fear of our man plod and his hairdryer.
So what`s it to be ??
What I will say is if we were doing the Knockhill / Crail thing
there`s plenty of car activities to be getting on with, but it would appear that this may not be everyones cup of tea
It would however be an ideal opportunity for the members to get together, socialise (badges a VG idea BTW as most peebs had no idea who was who at the NBO IMHO, which was a pity, specially after travelling a few hunner mile), browse the cars in a closed enviroment without the nova brigade etc (talking from the Crail angle here as if we hire it we can spec who gets in and who doesn`t
)
BTW there were a few other clubs present at the NBO, but they were NOT mixed in with the scoobs (apart from the old dear that got lost and ended up in the first row
bless her).
Just for information, I have approached a few vendors with a view to them attending and contributing to the costs & can say that the responce from them has really been quite poitive
So c`mon peebs, what d ya want outta this event???
Lemme know so we can get on with the organising & making it happen

Cracking idea fellas - count us in
Alford is a fair trek - believe me I know, I used to cycle there and back in a day from Aberdeen
cracking roads
450 cars is a bit optimistic, I beleive there were only 300 @ the NBO and, whilst you may get more Scottish attendees
, you will undoubtedly loose a few Southern English folk
. Wonder if the guy from Jersey will come for this one too?
Cheers, Jon & Tia

we're idealy looking at making this the exact same as the nbo except north of the border. we pretty much all do track days and other stuff anyway so we want to do something a little bit different. would i be right in saying that lads?

Needs a different spin on it as I go to meets and look at other peoples cars at least once a month
However, was too busy chatting to folk at the NBO to go on the roller coaster rides so a theme park would be good

Think Crail would be ideal. Pretty central and heaps of space. Beer tents on the Sat night for peeps travelling there on the sat. Then use of the track all day Sun. I don't imagine people will grudge paying a fair entrance fee, providing its only sccobs that get in!! Last 2 weeks in August would be ideal for us. Could round up everyone in the Highlands and travel down together, WOULD BE GREAT FUN!!!!!!!!

Lesley, agree with you on the entrance fee being fair,
But not with the "only scoobs would get in"
Quite a few peeps on here that dont have scoobs anymore, or have a scoob aswell as something else, they should still be allowed to come along.

right, back to the idea of crail then. by the sound's of it, the majority are cool with that anyway. so who can try and organise getting the place for a saturday night going through to sunday night in the not too distant future? money for it sound's like it shouldn't be a problem either!
it depend's on many people you want there. the longer we wait the more people would come, but obviously not too long. thinkingof about end of august, beginning of september. no?
Trouble is that Crail is pretty much booked up on Sundays until later on in the year I'd expect. There might be some Saturday dates available though.
The other thing that springs to mind is that after NBO, not many people might want to drive hundreds of miles, just to park in a field with no other attractions, hence the thoought of tying it in with an existing event - at least there would be plenty of action to keep people entertained, as well as looking at the cars
I'd certainly drive a lot further to get some passenger laps, drive on a track, do something interesting etc.
Also think that 450 cars would be a bit ambitious, and somewhere around 100 - 200 would be more realistic, given the short notice, so we don't need that big a venue.

good to see the scottish clan getting it sorted
always be positive re numbers 406 in the NBO
suggest a theme park like mds in hamilton as its central and you might get the parking for nothing as its a risk paying out hundreds for a field
August is bad for english holidays i suggest mid september to get the full <english invasion>
you had better lock up your daughters and pubs when the Green wagon fetchs up 400 scoobs to rape and pilage
