Rev... you are using the American SC300 specs aren't you... it is very different to my car...

They are heavier
Have different gearing
Have different drag [no Ground Effects package]
I have a modded Gearbox, the biggest difference here... even more than shaving 200lbs off the US car... good fun tho...

He's using the JDM TT standard gearing.

What ratios you using?

So you're saying the overall gearing is the same as a standard TT auto, but presumably with a different torque converter, bearings etc.,

I have a very different Torque convertor... it is smaller and set differently... put it in a standard car and it will beat the pants off the manual just with point and squirt...

So the drag co-efficient is better than 0.31, which is what I'm using?

I have weight as 3500lbs as tested.

Ratios as per previous page

No frontal area given (would be useful)

Power as 397 @ 7170
Guesstimated torque of 300lb/ft @ 6000 because it fitted the power curve.

Any information gladly received to build a more accurate model.

I'm off to bed now, but I'm still impressed that the on-paper figures aren't a million miles from Mycroft's claims. Sub 5's to 60, 13's in the 1/4 and 180+mph from a grand tourer with "only" 400bhp is pretty good and still with some figure massaging to do.

I'll pick this up in the morning if there's any added info.

Barge, if you get chance, some specs for your car would be fun so we can hold a virtual grudge meeting

The car test programme has compulsary fields for width and height as well as ground clearance and wheel/tyre sizes. With all this information it can guesstimate frontal area, but has an optional field for frontal area if known exactly.

If you want us to agree that, on paper, based on those figures given, that a Soarer with over 120bhp more than standard, will offer performance comparable or superior to a standard spec DB7 that is 135kg heavier and 42bhp worse off than your figures, then yes, we agree.

What many would like to see is third party evidence, ie dyno sheet, verified performance figures. Many others would like to see the car run in the flesh, against a pretty trick car hiding under an Escort bodyshell ;-)

I'd have one of those Soarers for £10k, sounds like a bargin with all that power. I was looking at them to buy recently, but i didn't know anything about them, I got an FTO, I'm happy with the FTO for the now.

Another Soarer might come along.

Brochure lists two weights 1550kg and 1825kg, guessing one may be dry weight and one maybe laden weight?
I think the first is before mycroft speaks and the second is after he has spoken

Mycroft, can you compare like for like cars for a change

ie Soarer vs datsun Cherry
and diablo vs ferrari as examples...

what you have it a depeciateing piece of toss engineering, that no ones heard of, and you are trying to compare it with the best of british sports car marques!!!

see how stupid you sound now...

like comparing a stepthru honda c90 (rocket powered) to a hyabusa

very sad..

BB - almost as sad as me reading this thread, i suppose!!
