man that car is one plain characterless blob
###
Fine.
###
anyway, the other day you said you didn't own one of these mycrock special sorers and yet today you seem to be claiming you do.
more rubbish?
###
No, you just can't read things very well it seems.
It is more accurate than you posting times from a 2002 car instead of the 1996 car... you are the fool here little fella... no offence...

I'd like to give it a go... but a ford escort?
Yeeeuck... there is no kudos in beating that...
It aint the same as 'I humiliated a Diablo' is it... 'I thrashed an Escort'... yeah right 1.1 or 1.3... that would be humiliating in my circle of friends...
Barge, I thought you had a CAR not a JOKE!

What does it matter what the other car is.
Race a 1/4 mile at somewhere like Santa Pod. Your racing your own reactions and the stopwatch. You then compare times over a beer, bought by the loser, with mutual respect...

I've been doing some maths.
Without accurate information on the gearbox/final drive ratios it's a bit of guesswork, but a 400bhp Soarer is good for at least 185mph. I can't get it to do 12 sec 1/4 mile on paper though, low 14's at best.
Just for clarification of someone's earlier post, weight has no effect on top speed, only acceleration. For top speed 3 things count: aerodynamics, power and gearing.
If someone could provide the correct gear ratios I'll work out what I think are accurate top speed and 1/4 mile times on paper *may not be achievable in the real world.
I beleive the cd figure is 0.31, any ideas on the frontal area?

I'd like to see a showdown as it were, however, I get the impression Mycroft is not willing to drive down a straight bit of tarmac against a Ford.
Notorious- What program are you using to model the performance?
If they won't meet in reality, the next best thing is to provide figures (with suitable evidence) for gearing, power / torque curves, weight, drag factor, frontal area etc., and compare the results from your computer.

I can't get the gearing to match Mycroft's mph/1000rpm figure though, standard auto gearing is 19.52mph/1000 rpm.
The figures I showed earlier are based on the manual version as it's better geared (allows another 6mph over the too-long auto). I suspect maybe the FD ratio quoted on the previous page isn't quite right.
