Fangoria: If your car is mapped for NF and then you start using Methanol you MUST re-map to take into account the extra oxygen content which has the effect of weakening the mixture. The probable alternative to a re-map is melted piston(s).
Methanol is a relatively cheap option for Andy as he knows what he is doing, has a wide band lamda sensor connected at all time and he also has the facility to adjust the map/fuel as he drives. Also note that he does not drive the car every day so arriving in a strange town and needing two litres of methanol is not a particular consideration.
If you go this route on a daily driver then you could always lug around ten litres of the stuff which is readily available in batches of 25 litres from a number of distributors. However also note that the composition of each batch can vary quite noticably so there is a case for buying a large drum, 205 lires? and sharing it with your mates so you do not have it on the shelf too long but already I think you realise it might be more trouble than it is worth for the average daily driver.
Just stick to N.F.

I also wouldnt consider mark my friend.. If he was a friend then I wouldnt have paid him so much money.
I didnt know mark before I bought the scoob.. and I dont go drinking with him so therefore he is a preferred supplier..
I also recommend howard at www.hdcsubaru.com
everyone has there own preferred suppliers.. I only 'recommend' people 'speak' to mark, I dont try and recommend they buy a specific turbo

Steve
Just to correct your above post, my 440 bhp was on 550cc injectors and using only 1.47 bar of boost. Also very little lag with 1.2 bar from 3100 rpm.
I found the limit of the ignition system at this level and will be pushing the boost higher shortly, once I've fitted the MSD ignition
cheers
Andy

I cant see you getting much over 400bhp with 550cc injectors, especially without a fuel pressure regulator... alos you need to running more boost to get the power

Christian you t!t, what are you on about ?
I use pump fuel - Optimax to be precise. Instead of adding NF like everyone else (including Adams monster) I add 2 ltrs per tankfull of methanol. Why ? cos it's cheaper than NF and does the same job !!
I've spent over 1000 pounds on my engine mods (just) I can't afford the real deal octane booster

I think he might get bored as we all do of the same people with thier big wooden spoons trying to cause trouble
Its not like this on the MLR you know!
I sometimes wonder what some people are trying to achieve on this BBS, ok people have recommended someone to try for a turbo, people they happen to trust where is the problem?
But as usual the same people are hell bent on causing trouble!
Hence why I keep my mouth shut about what I expect to acheive & have complete faith that I will.
I hear comments about highly tuned 2.0 cars on here, that are completely drivable on the road, very little lag etc, maybe im missing something but i dont see how thats possible? a bigger turbo = longer spool up even I understand that much!!! Oh & a certain car which was apparently not laggy at all has recently been classed in a magazine "somewhere" by the RR operator as "coming on boost very late" - is that not lag? - does that not completely contradict what they say?
Maybe one day the witch hunters will get bored, or even end up with an egg on face scenario
