Hi
Thanks for the offer. Ill keep it in mind.
For everyone elses info, Ive not made the booking yet as I was waiting for things at work to clear up. Thankfully Xmas has finally calmed things down, so I will be phoning Scoobysport on Saturday. Hopefully things will finally start moving forward again...
Cheers

Hi Des
Here is my route to the big 300BHP including prices paid for parts on my MY98 UK turbo. Booked in for the PE ECU group Buy Phase 2 remap on 8th Jan
Zaust
Downpipe, 3" Modified HKS straight through (now a twin dump)£100
Centre, 3" decat straight through (prototype)£free
Back box, Magnex 6x4 (Will be looking for something a bit quieter in the new year as a bit boomy on long journeys)£100
Engine
KNi induction kit with cold feed via resonator removal and when not raining mini bonnet scoop, home made heatshield. £45 / £40
VF24 turbo from an STi4 with heat shield in a nice shade of manifold red (don't ask !) £150
440cc STi 5 yellow injectors, fitted with Pavlo's adapters. £32
Walbro in tank fuel pump and regulator with adjustable gauge. £210
Intercooler tilted, air splitter, manual / automatic water spray.
Samco hoses fitted to Intercooler. £free / £free / £30 / £60
AP organic clutch £400
Roger Clark 5.5kg flywheel +£300
Engine undertray removed (Harvey reckons its 7deg C heat reduction) £free
Monitors
Knocklink with Bosh sensor, located under intercooler next to engine number. £110
Dawes AFR (wired in apart form ECU connection as I cant find which wire it is supposed to go to) £35
Boost gauge £50
With this little lot I am hoping for around 300BHP and as much torque as I can get.
Brakes and suspension already uprated
All the best with your target though dont think you will be able to get 300Lbf without replacement headers !
Cheers

Hi
Paul, whom Pete Croney asked me to call re booking my car in, was off over the weekend. I planned to call him today but left the number at home. Ive now sent the number to my works e-mail, so no more excuses. Dont know what the Scoobysport calendar looks like but hopefully Ill be able to get this all done and dusted... Im really aching to put the bits on and feel the difference they provide... (along with the stupid grin). Good luck with your mods guys and Merry Xmas...

Chrome - I've got a bit of paintwork 'tidying up' to do on my car, and a final mapping session. Then I'll do some pics and details for your Modded Monsters - if the offer's still open?

Hi
No the changes havent been made yet but the car is booked in for the 6th of March. Ive not booked it in sooner as Im off to South Africa for three weeks. Promises to be quite exciting as I get to have a go in a new Merc E320 as well as a Merc C32 (particularly keen on this one obviously). The roads in South Africa are quite open so its easy to do a cars top speed in relative safety with no/little risk to others.
Also, Paul at Scoobysport agreed to let me take pics of the changes as they are being done, for those of you who are interested.
Cheers

Just had mine remapped so here is my graph and info
GRAPH !
Thats
1.3 BAR peak boost producing 288 Lbf torque
Max power is 311 BHP @ 6811 RPM
She holds over 260lbf between 3400 - 5900 revs
Still havent driven her so I will add that report after I pick her up on Monday.

Don't mean to thread hi-jack but I'm looking for a safe as possible 300BHP on standard internals for my MY00 Impreza.
I've got:
K&N Panel
DE-Cat exhaust and Twin D/Pipe (think its miltek)
ECUTEK re-map
Knocklink, Autometer guages etc
So I too want 300 but also reliabilty.
Planned in the future:
Headers (either OEM ported or aftermarkets items)
Turbo (Not sure on what but don't want too much lag)
FMIC (Again don't know what make, Hybrid seems good for price)
Injectors
Fuel pump and regulator.
Plus TEK tweak to run the changes properly.
Guess the above should be good for 300 if not more but would ask whoever maps the car to stop at 300BHP/300Lb/ft
Any advice appreciated chaps.

Well... after much delay, the work has been done to fit all the parts to my car. Ill attach some pictures at some stage. Unfortunately I seem to be getting loads of knock.
Basically spent the whole afternoon yesterday trying to get rid of it but while the laptop says theres no knock, my knocklink kept doing its Xmas tree impersonation. Eventually, gave up at 5pm (I still had to drive back to Edinburgh from London) and set the car to a safe map. Next thing Im planning is to get the car checked to see if its a problem with the knocklink or if the problem is real (Ill try A.F Noble but Im not sure if they have their own knock testing kit or if they just relied on the info from the chip). Once that questions been answered we can try remapping the car to see if we can fix the problem.
Ho hum... On the plus side I did get to feel the difference in the performance of the car for all of 10 seconds.... fantastic....
Any ideas, suggestions (or the name of a garage with knock testing equipment near Edinburgh)???

Ecu Specialist
Knock testing equoment is usually someone listening with det cans .. that should have been done when mapping which then enables a correlation between laptop and knocklink to be done.

Thanks for the response Bob. Looks as though I will be making another trip down to London sometime soon, to have another go at getting the map right. Will definitely have to get the det cans out (will make some calls tomorrow) to make sure there are no issues and the knocklink is reading correctly (which I now think it is).

was the knocklink fitted at the same time as everything else?
I have det cans here in fife if you wish to check for knock but knocklinks are usually accurate for spikes , even of the greens so beware of this.
how have they left the car and how have they told you to drive it? eg. back to a standard map, plumbed pipework to actuator boost only , told you to stay off boost ,drive only to ????rpm etc.........
have to say an active knocklink with no det cans would be enough for me to find another mapper. suggest bob rawle.

Hi
Cars map has been backed off to prevent any issues. Ive been driving the car very gently (low boost and not exceeding 4000 rpm), while watching the knocklink closely (which is currently set to maximum sensitivity). The knocklink was fitted at the same time as everything else, but as the cars ECU and the link were so contradictory my initial concern was to reconcile the two and gain some understanding of why they were so different.
If you dont mind, it would be great if I could use your det cans to check if the det is real. At least that would confirm the problem one way or the other.
Cheers

I usually dont slag off people etc but I think Im going to have to make an exception....
I recently had all my parts for the car fitted at Scoobysport (Essex) and had the car mapped at the same time. To get there on Saturday morning at 8:30am, I had to leave Scotland (Edinburgh) at a rather ridiculous hour and drive the whole night. When I got there all the parts (including a knocklink) were fitted, no problem. However this took quite some time so the mapping started late.
At 5pm in the afternoon after spending a fair amount of time trying to get the car to work properly and suspecting some sort of problem with the knocklink I had bought (based on what I was being told by the mapper), I left London to drive all the way back to Edinburgh. The map was turned down and the plan was that, as the mapper was due to come out to Edinburgh, we would meet up if the turned down map was causing any problems.
After getting back to Edinburgh, I looked up the recommended method for setting up the knocklink myself and after doing so took the car out to see what was happening. Lo and behold, there was a massive red light on the knocklink when pushing over 5000 rpm.
As this was the case I booked my car back in to Scoobysport (they did the map, so if they broke it, they could fix it). I phoned Paul at Scoobysport and booked the car in for the following Saturday. I made a hotel booking for the following Friday (had to get a day off work) through Sunday, so that my family could go with me. I phoned Pete Croney on Wednesday, to confirm the everything was OK. Pete called me back and said 'no problem'. On Thursday evening at 8:30pm, I get a call to say that they are unable to book me in for that weekend after all and that both mappers are unavailable. This happened even though Pete knew I was travelling down from Scotland and all the travel arrangements I made.
Finally, I rang Pete up today to book the car in again, only to be told SCOOBYSPORT HAS CLOSED DOWN. All this in the space of three weeks and with no warning. Im going to try getting this sorted through the TV watchdog, but I suspect that he has declared bankrupcy and I will therefore have to join a queue of people wanting to get their money back....
NOT a very happy camper... and I wont bother saying what I think of Scoobysport.

I read on the Webmaster post re: scoobysport close, that Pat would look after any mapping issues if he Scoobysport had mapped a car.

I suggest you try and get hold of Pat and see what he can do.

Hi
Thanks for that... Unfortunately, it wasnt Pat who did the mapping...
Pete didnt say anything other than he was closing down and I assume he would have mentioned something if he was planning to help sort my problem out. Ill try Pat and see what he says though...

Hi
After speaking to T-uk and chatting to AndyF Ive decided to get the car remapped using the Apexi chip. Further discussion of the problems Ive been experiencing seem to indicate that the FPR might be to blame so Ive got a new FSE FPR from Mark Aigin for around £95. An alternative was the SX FPR which could run higher boost (i.e. over 1.7 bar) but was twice the price. AndyF, who will be fitting the chip, says he wont be running the car much higher than 1.2 bar as Im using a top mount inter-cooler.
Unfortunately Ive struggling to find the time to fit the damn thing as work has been absolutely mental. Have to do it this weekend though as Im due to get the chip and map done next week Wednesday. Im off to do some scans on how to fit FPRs....
Speak to you next week... and with a bit of luck Ill be a happy man.....
Hows your upgrade getting on?

Well... a quick update
Managed to find a very detailed explanation of how to fit the FPR on Scoobynet (pics and instructions). Had some massive issues with the top screw where the original OEM FPR sits sits (stripped it in fact), so decided to get AF Nobles to do it for me. Meant a delay in the mapping, but its all fitted now and Im waiting for AndyF to let me know a date that suits him.
