I've literally just come back from my 10k service and took an STi8 out.

I was genuinely glad to get back in my 02 WRX.

That was enough to make me realise that all these handling mods really really do work.

Even on 18s and an sti stut brace, the sti understeered like a dog. Not only that, but with the stiffer suspension, but the same ride height (ie up on stilts) it felt so unstable through fast bends.

Nothing a set of springs wouldnt sort I guess.

Arron, talk to Iain Litchfield about his incredible Spec C's he imports.

Trust me it is the daddy. Blows the 22b out of the water in many respects.

All the goodies John mentioned, but also a LOT lighter kerb weight, tubular manifold headers, and all the handling gear sorted (roll bars, drop links, you name it.)

It's only just been released Arron and they have waiting lists for months on the car right now (wonder why ). The demand is such that some of the less honest dealers are putting a $4000 premium on the car if you dont want to wait for delivery. I dont think you will be able to buy one for a while yet. (Dont forget its a LHD too)

Backing up my comments earlier about the plans for the Impreza, check page 32 of the new Evo.

"Hisashi Miyazaki, GM of planning, said the whole strategy behind the Impreza was being reconsidered, hinting that the next-gen Impreza could be quite a different car"

if i was serious about another car right now, i would buy a JDM STi TypeRA Spec C as mentioned, its one hell of a package and it DOES NOT UNDERSTEER.

(remember mine at bedford )

that's a very old thought process you have there Arron, brainwashed UK buyer syndrome i call it.

Talk to Ian Litt or any of the import dealers about your concerns.

I get my STi RA serviced 10 minutes from my home to a standard better than i have seen at any UK dealer in terms of tools, service, knowledge and enthusiasm.

Whats the diff in price in the UK between a WRX and an STi. Here in South Africa, a WRX is about 8000 pounds cheaper - and there ?
