Is this STILL the best value PDA on offer?

yup don't quote you on that ;^)
When PPC 2002 came out you needed a minimum amount of ROM to do the upgrade, I guess something similiar will happen with 03
Last time around ipaqs bought before a certain date got a free upgrade (if the hardware could hack it)
http://www.computerweekly.com/articl...avourID=1&sp=1
"Microsoft will launch its Pocket PC 2003 operating system on 23 June, and Gateway and Hewlett-Packard (HP) will announce their latest PDAs. The latest version of Pocket PC will come with improved capabilities for detecting and maintaining wireless network connections, and better performance. It will also be optimised for Intel's XScale processors. Gateway will make its debut into the handheld market alongside the Pocket PC 2003 launch. The company has embarked upon a strategy to turn its fortunes around by emphasising consumer electronics products in addition to its flagship PCs."
Some more info
The new iPaq 19xx series devices to be released using PPC2003 at the end of this month only have 32mb of ROM. This indicates that any device with 32MB of ROM, which is Flash upgradable (all of them) and has an ARM based processor (again all of them) can be upgraded.
MY THOUGHTS: With PPC 2002 they had 2 versions depending on the size of the ROM, those with smaller ROM had to load things like MSN messenger, spell check into RAM.
As I said earlier unless you *need* a pocket pc now, I'd wait until at least 23rd June and see what is announced.

Are you sure?
I know the 400 mhz processor one is now £243 instead of it saying £239 the other day but when I went to the checkout with it it was £243 so they just got the price wrong on the front page. It was actually £243 last week so they haven't put the price up, just corrected their website.
Anyway Pete I'm sure the difference of £4 can't damage your weekly pension that much

Just seen whats happened - they were amending their website!!
The price went up again to previous price BUT THEN I saw the prices as £159 and £219 respectively .............. are those the prices to apply after PCP2003 is launched on 23rd June I wonder??
Pete
ALSO, the cheaper one showed it mounted in the cradle!!! - I reckon it will be £159 and they will throw in the cradle!! Makes sense as it won't run PCP2003

The new iPAQ's are due to be launched shortly, I expect it will coincide with the PPC 2003 launch.
There will be an upgrade program for anyone who bought an iPAQ in May, June and July which will allow you to recieve a free upgrade to PPC2003.
Gregh - I see you've managed to get a link to your site on the PSG home page!!!
