Smile

Sorry guys, been in a meeting and missed the fun
I can only say what I saw.
Driving is suicidal - fact.
Food I had in the hotel was poor - Grey potato cake with warm dark meat ( horse I think ) in yellow creamy sauce with carrots. I lived for two weeks on dry rations and chlorinated water in the Army, it was better. I used to go to the local supermarket and buy food and eat it in my room. Beer was great, Wykiec and the others were excellent.
LOT are a very strange airline, not the worst I have flown, but very unique in its approach to customer service.
Women are stunning, just they dont smile much - truth.
The areas of Warsaw I saw were extremely run down. For the locals it was route E7 from Grojec to Warsaw via Janki.
I have seen 8 or 9 former Eastern Block countries over the last 10
years, and it was the least developed in the areas I saw. Also this was the opinion of many other Polish people I spoke to.
I am very objective about my posts on this BBS and say things as I see them good or bad. I am equally scathing about things in my own country. Take off the rose coloured glasses of patriotism and see things for what they are.

Steve, it's been coming out of your VAT bill since 1991. And aid to Greece, Portugal, Ireland et al has been coming out of the same bill since earlier.

damn.
I've only read the first page...
Now you are all allowed to lough and name me a dumb Pole - I deserve it
So what's the conclusion? Poland , Mongolia and UK are alike so let's form a new Union without borders and go to a pub ?
You know, we do have some great lagers here in Poland
One of tehem - Tyskie - won some award in London this year - like The BEst Lager of The Year or something.
But compared to what the Czechs brew ...well we still have to practice...
My friend makes his own ale

Wink

My brother lives in Poland and has just married a Polish girl. Personally I though the country was beautiful aprt from the roads which are in a terrible state. Food was excellent esp. the duck with cranberry and apple.

I was expecting Poland to be like the old East Germany, but it just isn't. Its more like W.Germany minus 5 years. Their public transport system (in Warsaw) puts our to shame.

I have attached a photo of some rather nice Polish ladies (Special mention here for Camilla - the blonde)

Exclamation

ok - wanna play hardball - please yourself.
Maybe you have been to a 'nostalgia for the comunism' theme park or something?
What is the traditional welsh 'cuisine' speciality?
And how can you even try to comment on food when you are british? I mean the brits are well known for their ability to kill an animal twice - once when they sloughter it and second time - when they cook it: )
About our traffic - I suppose you forgot that we drive on the RIGHT side of the road - if you were trying the left then no wonder Polish drivers looked like kamikaze smart lad :P
An about women - what do you know about women, eh? What's the population of Wales? 2,8 milion? That's about the size of Warsaw. So you don't have much of a choice...
And as we mainlanders all know islands are not a good place to breed :>
I'm sorry if I offended anyone - it was aimed only at Daiscooby the Polekiller - stereotype fan.

Ok
I'd be glad to stop this 'argument' as it actually leads nowhere.
I didn't get what you said about the bars Diesel - "un-corporate" meaning... ?
Cracow's nice - it has a unique atmosphere - hundreds of years of artists, painters, poets. Even though it's Warsaw's (my town)'rival' city I like it. And they have Wis³a Kraków - the football club you might have heard of.But just outside Cracow is the best sight to see in this part of Poland - Wieliczka - the salt mine. When I first saw it I was baffled. Even my friend from Wimbledon - he's like 15 and doesn't think much - only plays FPPs twenty4seven - said 'WHOA!'. This was the biggest demonstration of enthusiasm I have ever seen from him
Last one too...

I still can't imagine those donkeys. What would a donkey be doing on a field (apart from enriching the lome with the products of it's digestive system...). How come I have never seen one?
To tell the truth I had to chech where Grójec is on my roadmap :>
So what is it you eat in Wales?

CzeϾ to you too

oh - and its 'sam spierdalaj'- which btw makes no sense when talking to a Customs Oficer. The Customs for Polish citizens on Heathrow are not only impolite - they are humiliating. There was a press storm about it after last year's holiday season - people told stories that even Kafka would not imagine. Sad.

EU is to solve all our problems? And where did you hear that - in Grójec? Funny.
Of course all the euroenthusiastic people say that it's just the only option we have - which is true. And we will get more money than we give - so technically we will have more money for improving some stuff. But it will never solve our worse problems:
-coruption
-farming (we have five times more farmers than we need and the agriculture is generally...'backward' :> )
-lack of work (well I hope it will help by investing - therefore giving work - but the problem lays in our labour laws and codes)
.These are our own problems and we know that it's for us to solve.
But please don't say things like 'get out you don't deserve it'!
There are the economic problems and ALSO there is the idea of a UNION - an all-european federation with no borders. And this is something I am looking forward to.
and remember that we were in the eastern block thanks to mr.Churchill :> so you owe us LOL

I just got back from the Warsaw airport - no problems. My friend came back from the USofA and got through customs in ten minutes. Is that slow? :>

Oh - and what is it about Ireland? Are you trying to say that Ireland didn;t benefit from the EU??? Or did I misunderstand because it sounds ridiculous!

Biedermeier... what is more surprising is that people don't even understand that you have a very balanced & educated view about this, including some irony/sarcasm/jokes. And that you can even convey those in English...

Hey, you'd be welcome to my EUtopia

haha - I'm back - I tried to watch the Sweden - Poland game but it's just unbearable! After the World Cup they changed our coach and the team is playing much below any civilized standards - and their ability.
OOOPS - forgot - I'm backward! So I'll just stick to the troglodite 'infinitive only' style, shall I?
well - no, coz it's boring.
I don't know why RB feels offended. Oh shoot! I get it - he's from Milton Keynes! LOL

About the historic past Evil:
1. I know how Belgium got independant - and I also know about the Dutch bourgois revolution - when was it? 1572-1600 something? When the Suthern Netherlands (read Belgium) decided they will stick with the catholic Spain (yes Dai) and not with some Northern heretic wierdos. About 1830 - and the 'Poland - Belgium one front'.
You might have heard that Poland was erased from the maps in 1794 - divided by Russia, Austria and Prussia. After Napoleon the Russian part known as The Congressional Kingdom of Poland was also the place for the Tzar to experimentr with liberalism and deMOCKracy. In 1830 there was your uprising - and as you probably know in 1815 in Vienna the empires decided they will help eachother fight national uprisings. So the russian army was just about to move out of Poland and march to Balgium when in November 1830 the Poles raised - partially to express solidarity with Belgium. The uprising was a disaster (yet we love our uprisings and had more - more disasterous) mostly becouse of our talent to argue among ourselves rather to fight first and argue later. But the Polish historiography puts it this way - "yep, we've lost - at least we helped Belgium"

There is no way I will believe your father fought in Ypres! NO WAY.
Or you're older than I think. Much , much older...

So you don't know about the battle of Warsaw then?

Why am I ignorant? Obnoxious?
What does tw@t mean?
