I think the N/A version in the USA is called the RS

If you have a prowl on NASIOC you will find some bad press regarding the Borla headers.

Don't wait on an Email from them they're not very good at that ! It only takes 2 mins on the phone, in fact I just got my bill and it was under 2 minutes !! Very efficient.
Shipping was $100 so the cost to your door will be just under £400

If you can interest someone else in a set the carriage cost is not much more so you both stand to save £20-£30

Andy

Thanks for the tip, maybe I should test the water for a group buy.
Why did you pick your current model/make of ECU ?

Headers are now in my garage, never seen a design like them before, i can post pictures once they are on the car.

They have very short primarys, and a parculiar up pipe, very interesting IMO.

Cant wait, just a shame that this saturday i start to demolish the house, so no real time to fit them.

I am sure i can find time, need to lag them 1st, although i was going o do that tonight, but had to cut the field ready for haymaking

Steven - Sounds like a job for David

Mark - It was the cheapest 16x16 resolution plug-in MAP type ECU available

Steven,

Very curious about what they look like

Even more so what it is going to drive like..
and of course the sound.. and the power..

Hope the demolishion goes okay and not too many blisters from the damn bailer twine!

Mark A, unsure if you mean pavlo or steven?

Stevens arent Gruppe S (sp) but they are different

Paul is ordering some headers but Im not saying which..

Andy.. pah.. steven is perfectly capable of fitting some headers, however if it rains whilst doing the demolition then Ill offer to fit them (as I dont do rain )

otherwise I best stay inside and supervise.. (That will be a waste of a week of work..)

Steven, could you post pics before you fit them, or is that not allowed

If a manifold uses slip-joints make sure they are correctly designed. You can lose a serious amount of pressure through them. A manifold spitting flames does look kinda cool though

FWIW a Jun 4-2-1 equal length manifold gave 40hp with appropriate mapping on a 2.33 using 95ron.

I currently have pictures of them in their supplied state. I have half wrapped them tonight, gave up, as i got bored.

Will take pictures of them fully wrapped, and then fitting to the car.

Once they are on the car, then i will post a full series of pics.

Just cant post pics untill they are fitted.

My gruppe-s headers arrived today, Andy has posted pics of his (gruppe-s), I have to say the headers are very nice. Up-pipe is a little dodgy (very large) but still high quality.

I don't think you will save with a group buy, as they are cheap already. I ended up paying £414 all in I think, maybe a little more for CC dollar transaction, but compared to spending £850 on HKS or whatever, it's a great deal.

Here are the ones I am getting.

They are basically an unbranded version of headers costing twice their price, and made by the same people.

Just waiting for 100% confirmation that they will fit a new age.

Ed, those look 'exactly' like the Gruppe-s supplied headers, even down to the transit bar bolted across the flanges.

Hmm interesting. I was told they were replicas but not of the gruppe s items. Are the gruppe s headers purported to be replicas of another set of headers?

Will the gruppe s headers fit an 02 wrx??? For £400 would be silly not to seeing as I have a remap and uppipe soon. The uppipe alone is 130. Can anyone say with certainty that they will fit?

does anyone know if there are two types of the gruppe-s kits?, a kit with the larger collector and big up-pipe like we see and possibly a kit with collector for a standard type replacement 2" up-pipe.

I would definitely be interested in a group buy if a 2" up-pipe version was available.

I wsas going to say they're meant to be copies of the HKS, but they're nothing like them:

Sorry about the size and quality of the pic

I wasn't going to say that (just think it ) but now that you mention it, the pics Christian posted on Pg-1 look like the pipe from No1 cylinder steps in size at the weld on the bend ? none of the other pipes appear to do this ? Also all the primarys do not appear to be entering the collector in a straight line ? The collector does not look finished properly inside - tube protruding ? and finally, there's the price
Of course I could just be biased

andy,

I would say that the bigger up-pipe should probably give you even more peak power but I'm not chasing the big figures.............yet.

I do not know what graphs you have comparing the different up-pipes, AP22 or dyno?, but I think the 2" pipe should be stronger up to say 4500rpm.

do you think there will be any problems with hard track use stressing the heads as I mentioned earlier?, they do seem pretty solidly held. I do not know if you ever saw JB's first set?

Ok yup looks like they are the gruppe s headers. I can't spot a single differentiating factor.

So, a couple questions.

Is there a bugeye version / will they fit a bugeye. (doesn't say on the website)

As I'm doing a lot of track time at the minute, is it a good idea to ditch the uppipe and go with the mrt flexi 2" uppipe I was going to get? (This kind of takes away one of the reasons I was going to get the headers, cos they came with an upipe, but flexi uppipe does make sense really)

What kind of benefits can I expect to the performance and driveability of the car, with full decat, aps TMIC, and all properly mapped in, but still on standard turbo / injectors? (for now)

cheers

Ed

Right, given the state of my car at the moment, I took the opportunity to fit the headers, so here are some pics of them off the car. I will take someof them on the car later.

Bit awkward to fit, but got there in the end, will need some heat resistant sheething for the wiring underneath the radiator, the output of the APS intercooler pipe, and somewhere else(cant remember).

Look different!!

Cant test them yet, as car is off the road

Steven

My HKS are likely to be for sale, considerably discounted over the new price.

They are unused.

HKS headers do not come with an up pipe.

Funny-looking things
Isn't that going to shift the spool-point up quite a bit? Wouldn't have thought a lot of pulsing would survive that length of '1' on the 4-1?
And just as an aside - the sleeve on the Gruppe-S headers looks pretty short? Are they OK like that? I presume so having heard nothing but good things about them so far
