"great fun leaving most cars, "tailgators,Golf tdi150" wondering what left them for dead"

How do u know what kind of TDI it was, if it was behind you
TDI's are not badged with 110 115 130 or 150 they all look pretty much the same - me thinks u want to believe it was a 150

I doubt you would leave a chipped 150 TDI for "dead"

LOL comparing a humble TDI to a 4wd 300 BHP PETROL turbo
At what speed do u put them in their place...

They probably think there quick because they are in real world driving situations

No i don't drive one..... but respect to any car with that produces that much Torque with or without a chip

"No i don't drive one..... but respect to any car with that produces that much Torque with or without a chip"

did someone get out of the wrong side of bed today!

i own a ford mondeo tdci, which produces, 250lb/ft of torque, which is appox the same as the golf 150.

cos diesel cars, cant rev very far, need all 4/5 gears to get over 100, (not that i drive at that speed)

golf worse, 6 speed box, my coupe only needs 3 gears, changing gear wastes a lot of time,

whats the 0 - 100 time of a golf 150?, 0 - 100 a good measurment of a cars performance.

Your talking about standing start accelaration - look at any of the mags for in gear times and deisels usually come out better than most petrol cars - a chipped 150 pulls until 5000 rpm according to reports i've seen on UK-MKIVS - they also produce well over 300 lbs of torque so even if u take into account changing gear your smack bang in to the middle of twice as much torque as a CTR - would have to be a seriously powerfull car the
"Blow" one away in real world driving

There seem to be quite a few ex SCOOBY owners with them
I suspect there the ones pissing off some people on here as it seems to be the car most people dislike at the moment.....:-)

20VT Being outran by a 328i, seriously something wrong with it, your mate needs to get it checked out and you need to get your **** in a proper 20VT.

Not going to get into the wranglings of which is the better car because
1) Imprezzas are rally bred cars produced to go fast and fly round bends, with superb handling.

2) Coupes are not rally bred cars, just a Design Success, something different with a Good Engine, plenty of power, good handling (not Imprezza class though) and excellent mid range.

My 20VT has very slight mods pushing the bhp to about 250bhp, easily outstrip Imprezzas on the M1, not came up against any seriously modded Imprezzas that I know of, but the ones that I have come up against I have beat.

On A and B roads have only had a couple of tussles, first one was one the way back from Donny Motorshow last month, don't know what spec Imprezza it was, but he couldn't get away, if you post on here then let us know, you are probably based in the Wakefield area. The other time was against a White WRX again in Wakefield, admittedly he just had the edge (mine was unmodded at the time).

Last night in Notts two blue 20VT's had a few run ins against Imprezzas, 02 Blue one, of a standing start level til about 60 then 20VT edged in front, in the end he gave up. Type RA (Red one), got a car length up of a standing start then reeled in. Some of these Imprezza drivers must post on here, so if you are reading this have your say.

By the way 30-70 at the moment is 4.9secs for my 20VT.

Well sorted Imprezzas are stunning cars and dependant upon mods can by flying machines with superb handling and capabilities.

The Coupe is a stunning car in other respects, but when driven well can fly.

"Your talking about standing start accelaration"

i take from that, the golf 150 0 - 100 is poor.

your talking about chiped golf with 300lb/ft torque, when my coupe is standard, if i chipped my car it would put down 260/270lb/ft torque(standard 230lb/ft),

the problem with in - gear times are that, 30 - 50, ect, dont need a gear change, so it looks great, but add a few more gears changes, things start to look poor again for diesels.

found stats on golf 130 in car mag, which has a little less torque, 10lb/ft approx than 150 golf

0 - 60 8.5secs
0 - 100 25.9 secs
30 - 70 7.8secs
50 - 70(in top gear) 8.8secs

so 150 will be a little faster.

fiat coupe 20v turbo

0 - 60 6 secs
0 - 100 14.5 secs
30 - 70 5.4 secs
50 - 70(in top gear) 6.2 secs

(same car mag for stats)

So if you had a golf 150, at which point do you think going to beat me, iam sorry but looks like quite big difference to me.

ctr thing, remember that car can rev for a long time 8/9000 rpm, so you can have a lower ratios in gearbox, so torque doesnt look that great, but a lot going via wheels.

the golf mayhave x amount of torque, but has to use higher gearing, which means less going via wheels.

dave

The 328 wasnt really pulling lengths i suppose... more like we couldnt catch him one bit!

Still i dont really like the coupe, yes its quick but not as fast as i thought!..... mate tryed 4/5 before he chose his one cause it went the best amungst other reasons.

A 280bhp scooby should have no trouble against a 20vt???

coupe 20vt has the same 60 - 100 as a p1 scooby,

but everything else coupe would be poorer.

get the coupe checked out - sounds poorly

once both are rolling the 280bhp scooby will NOT have an easy ride.

I disagree personally. anywhere above 60 is coupe's winning territory.

I've lost track of where this 328 thing came from but if this is a standard BMW 328 then a 20VT should totally hammer it! My old VTS stuck with a 328 from 20-100mph no problem and believe me a 20VT is much faster than the Saxo!! The BMW was modified (they do s/c do they not?) or the VT was fcuked!

I have to agree.... The 20VT should have mullered the 328.
The Impreza is a cool car and as has already been said here. It excels in different areas than the Coupe and vice versa. Both are cool cars :-)
Just ask the guys that go to Smagons :-)

you don't seem to be picking up on the bulk of the responses:

either the coupe was poorly, or not being driven to the best of its abilities. It will easily see off a 328
