Was the car was displaying a PAX laps welcome sign ?

If so, there's nothing 'cheeky' about asking - as was stated in the briefing and advertised on the posters in the pits.

Asking for passenger laps is cool

Hi Moses

Its me that has the car that looks a BIT like teknopetes car . I stayed in Falkirk on Saturday night so I would've been heading in your direction. Did you notice the huge hole in my bumper mesh? I hut a deer on the way down to the trackday but the deer came off considerably worse than the car

As everyone has said, a great day at knockhill, thanks to JohnS and the guys for organising it again.

Some great cars on the track though the Impreza's seemed out numbered!

Numptie, signs worked well it seems, though I had mine up near the end and nobody came near , ended up going round empty for a few laps. Maybe having signs on the people who want to go out would help

Trying to edit some of the video I got and will try and post up some stills from it once I get used to the software!

Duncan...

Hi Scoty

I do remember that some one desided to try and jump in front of one, i can't remember who told me though.

Was it only in the car park that it was loose?????????

Good day at KH as usuall. Some good cars out on track. Had some good laps too. Dont know what some of these folk are on about saying they couldnt get past the RA? You cant pass on corners and if the car has more power on the straights then how can you pass. So what if he is slower in the corners. If he lets you past then he would be up your tail cause you are slower on the straights. Atleast he put a show on at the hairpin for the crowd too! See the RA was a lot quicker on the straights than the Evo6. Was it not a Makkinen?

What about the Cossie with the roll cage? Quick motor. Made everyone else look like they were on a Sunday drive. Who was that?

The tuned Tvr Griff sounded really nice too.

Anyone notice that the number of Scoobies is becoming smaller and there are more Lotus and Tvr's than before?

I agree with Donk! This is my first time on Scooby Net and I have to say, It aint half bitchy!!

I was spectating at that track day. There is no need for the Evo to slag off the RA. The RA by far had the speed on the straights. If Im not wrong rules are rules NO OVER TAKING ON THE CORNERS!!! The poor guy in the RA also had sliks on in the rain! No wonder he was slow on the corners! The spins were a real laugh! Atleast some poeple can still go out and have fun! Anyway the day was good, excellent turn out and yes there are a lot of lotus! They are funny to watch in the rain though!

The guy with the cossie! Seen him a few times. Think he might also own a P1. Seen him at a track day before with the P1, atleast I think it was him. I could be wrong!!

Donk and MXally, your both incorrect I'm sorry.

The RA and myself were equally matched on the straights.

The only time his car seemed faster was out of the hairpin due to him getting power on grip with his slicks and my road tyres not hacking it. The cars run very similar power.

Ask yourself this.

WHY was it when I did get past I drove into the distance? Because laptimes are not made up of straightline speed otherwise the TVR would have been the fastest car on the circuit laptime wise.

The only time he pulled over to let me past was after clarks where he pulled to the right but didnt lift and we went inch for inch side by side all the way down that straight until the hairpin braking zone where he braked earlier.

Envision this... someone drives round the circuit corners at 2mph, then hits the straights and goes for it... everyone... EVERYONE is stuck behind him due to having more power down the straights, everyone has a cr4p day.

Hows thats good?

Thats not what he did as he was a good chap to talk to. Just that your opinions are incorrect and weren't formed from the position of being another driver he had the straightline speed that meant the only way to get past was to dangerously outbrake him or ask nicely to get past as none of us were willing to break the rules of overtaking on bends or anything else.

The track day etiquette is there so we can all have a fun day without crashing into each other. If someone takes the p!ss by not letting past people who are faster hows that any good?

Also ask yourself this question... how were we right up behind this car if it would just blow us away down the straights and be held up by us. If his car was putting in faster laps we would NEVER have caught up. Anyhows u formed the opinion from a bystanders POV. not another driver so its not that valid.

Anyhows his car was nice and was matched equally with mine in the straights and he was NOT using slicks all the time in the wet.

Sorry to have come across 4rsey on this one lads, you just must never have been held up by someone and it wasn't just me complaining now was it?...?

The cars in front will know what cars are quicker behind them, and generaly move over on the nearest safe passing which is not a corner.

IMHO if you are "stuck" behind a slower car going through corners, you should back off and wait to pass on a safer part of of the track.

I would let someone pass me on the straight even if I had more straight line speed, but only when they were clearly much quicker through the corners.

scotty,

fair honest reply.

Exactly what i do, I held up a caterham for a corner or two by mistake but he was not allowe by the rules to over take inbetween pit straight and after chicane and he only caught me after the pit straight so i let him passed by the chicane. I let past TUT aswell right near the begining as he appeared behind me... anyone who appears behind u is usually faster unless u are being held up by someone slower.

Its all irelevant IF people had played by the rules which said pull to the right on the straights and let people past who caught u up.

most people did.

My Smoking scoob only made it in around 12, too late it seems but it looked to me like the 3 knockhill minis were showing everyone how to do it. Nice bit of sideways action from them about 3inches apart from each other!

It was a great day, pity the weather turned near the end.

Moses, i was parked behind you in the Blue Wagon, was gonna pop over and say hi, but there was a fair group gathered round your car(looks well hard!!) so i didn't bother.

Foz, watched you go round a few times...geez that CTR looked low ! Good to see you were giving it plenty stick too..and a few nice sideways at some point.

As usual, Tut provided a good laugh..super quick and very brave down duffus...

And those Minis...i just couldn't stop laughing at them...they were ace !!

Foz - i was quite surprised at how you passed the 2.0 corsa on the straight too... :S my one was dead even with Tony's CTR on straight line.... he ran 214bhp at star too.... maybe that corsa's weight was playing a big part or your CTR is a fair bity faster...

and admit it..... you were trying to get the **** out

On the off chance... is the guy with the black corsa on here?

TUT - your driving is class
moses - why werent you out on track????

Fair comment mate! I still have to disagree though! If both cars are evenly matched on the straights then he would have had to slow right down to let you past. If both of you are timing your laps then its the case of driving the best you can in the given conditions. Had he slowed down to let you past he certainly would have lost time. I agree its a bit of give and take but was it really such a big deal?

It was a good day over all and I do like your car mate! Sounded good. What did you think of the cossie?

I timed a few of the cars and the quickest one by a good bit was the orange westfield.

TVR looked quick on the straight but I didn't manage to get a time on him b4 he dissapeared.

Dougie, you may have had the power to overtake me but you would have needed a very long straight IMHO!!

maxally fair play.

The real point is this, we weren't there to race each other. By not letting us past we couldn't get on with enjoying ourselves as we were held back. If he had let us past, he would have continued enjoying his track action at his pace and us at our own. Thats all.

Didn''t really get a chance to go up against that escort cossie. I would have liked to tho! I actually didn't notice it was behind me as I see from a photo that someone put up that it was! At one point it was infront of me and I was catching it up but either the session finished or I came off to get another passenger I cannot recall which as being an ex-rs man I would have loved to have seen how it went!

PS slowing down a tad on the straight isn't much loss as we all know how fast our cars are in a straightline Knockhill is all about cornering braking and so on something we cannot always do to the max on the road.

I don't think any one is going to deny that M8. Well when we got a straight u went for petrol

Either that or a lot more bottle than the wagon in front

All in a good day's fun.

Tyfus is 100% correct.

If someone catches you that wasn't there before, they are going faster and you should look for the next available straight to move over and let them through. This may well involve lifting off the throttle if the cars are evenly matched power wise. It's a simple concept to follow really - it's called track etiquette.

P.S. I'm not talkin about the RA car - just general good practice.
