As you can see this model also carries the ground-effect panels as mine does, the side wings and the channels under the car are all there... at 140mph this car, as mine does, generates 250kgs of down force and only one subtle boot spoiler... even my side wings [strakes] are body colour...
Before you edited this post you were claiming that at 190mph the downforce was pretty much back to zero. I'd like you to explain how, without the use of moveable aerodynamic devices, you gain more downforce from a car body with 140mph of airflow over it than you do with 200mph of airflow over it, unless there's some serious boundary layer separation at the back at high speed (design flaw). Surely the Soarer is the holy grail of F1 car design -- high downforce when going slowly (bends) and low downforce when going quickly (straights)? Maybe someone should tell Byrne, Head, Newey and Gascoyne to look at the Soarer

You also don't explain where this 250kg of downforce is generated (front, rear or middle) and again you fail to explain why it is required, offering only 'stability' by way of explanation. Unless your car is unstable in the pitch axis at speed, I fail to see why it needs any more stability than that provided by its 1.5 tonnes of weight and zero lift. The only reason racing cars take off is because they are placed into a situation in which the aerodynamics produce lift. This might be rear wing failure (F1 car) or following another car too closely resulting in the aerodynamics at the front becoming ineffective (Peter Dumbreck in the Merc at Le Mans).

BTW I remember the quote now -- it was Peter Stevens who said, when describing the aerodynamic tweaks he'd done on the P1, "the last thing you want on a roadcar is downforce"

PS: I suggest that Mycroft's real name is Stuart H

No, you see I have the knowledge and you don't, so that last word in your post is not about me, it describes exactly what you are... a loser... you have lost an opportunity to add to your knowledge, it is probably not the first time in your life and with your attitude it won't be the last...

I was going to point you to a huge thread I started all about how this aerodynamic design came about and my findings from when my car was in a wind tunnel having its undertrays modified... but ho hum... screw you!

I suspect that this job which occupies your time is that you are the person who makes up the pseudoscientific technobabble that appears in Star Trek. Maybe your Soarer will benefit from an inverse tachyon beam
That is quality, PMSL

Mycroft you truly are pathetic.

PS Carl before you go - what did you mean by the "Stuart H" comment?

Camk... I am much much 'brighter' than any post here has ever conveyed... I don't 'take' from the net... you should check posting times after a question is asked... everything is from my own head or my own stuff... I do occasionally check something as like anyone my memory can be tripped up...

Better still 'talk' to me on some of the chat rooms I appear on and then you would know better.

Seeing as SOTW on Pistonheads this week is a Soarer and Mycroft is getting more mentions than the car I thought I would raise this fromt he dead, whatever happened to him ?
