The guy is obviously a cowboy. Shop him and stay well clear.

Off to scoobyworld for some Toyo's

MarkT - YES I received my tyres via TNT no worries last week.

Take a look back in this thread to understand my history with CrossRoad Garage. It hasn't been an easy ride, but turned out ok in the end - just keep on hassling

David did mention that he has got a few personal issues going on at the moment which is taking him away from work often, but I'm sure he'll sort you all out eventually. I know how frustrating it is waiting for tyres, especially when your current boots have worn through but patience is needed.

I do pity the people who are walking away from this deal and buying Toyo's... at the very least go elsewhere and buy Eagle's!

I really like Toyo's! Not tried the eagles though. Dont like the sound of ordering from this chap, his busineess seems to be a mess, and I cant wait 4 weeks to get them.

I don't know what number people are using but I seem to get through 2 out of 3 goes.

He's just told me that if he gets anymore threatening phone calls he's going to forget the whole thing and you'll have to go elsewhere to get your tyres.

It's Crossroads doing you the favour, not the other way round. If you want to buy the tyres at double the price then do so elsewhere, if you are desperate for the tyres then go and pick them up yourselves. You'll still be saving a huge amount. If not, just be patient.

He isn't a large outfit and has other jobs to do besides booking couriers and filling out phone/email orders. The amount of money he's going to make on these tyres is negligible, so why spend the majority of his time trying to satisfy these orders.

I don't think it's right that he took on more than he could handle, and hasn't done himself any favours with all the delays and undelivered promises, but at this price you should have expected some problems. If you're not happy with the service then go elsewhere, that will lighten his workload. Threatening him is only going to spoil it for the rest of us.

I wouldn't have tried threatening him, even if he did answer the phone!

Where are they based? Might be worth a trip if they can be collected.

m8, I have been trying to arrange to go over there for the past 3 days to either get them fitted or just to pick them up, even though i have had several conversations with Dave, it just doesnt happen, he reckons the tyres are currently in Farnham anyway

I have just spoken to David and he is refunding me as I cannot wait any longer (front tyres illegal). He may well be a genuine bloke but he has definitely taken on too much. I also believe that unless you physically want to pick the tyres up then you might as well forget the empty promises of courier delivery.

Jamesjones, I don't think anyone would argue that it's a great deal and that it's excellent he is willing to do them at this price.

But that doesn't mean you have to blatently LIE about things like when the order will be sent, whether TNT have them or not etc.
If he was upfront and honest with people then there wouldn't be any complaining, people would understand and be either be prepared to wait, or go elsewhere.
He shouldn't make promises when he knows he can't keep them, it makes it very difficult for us to arrange other things.

He seems pretty incapable of telling the truth about these tyres 90% of the time and THAT is what annoys people.

Got to agree with bt52!

Rich Tee says that he spoke to dave and he said that the tyres were in Farnham, but look at this posted on monday by scoobimax!!

"...Tried a couple of times this morning and just got through. He's says he's not unpacked the consignment which kinda says he's received it (or is that just wishful thinking on my part?).... "

WTF!

For those who've threatened Crossroads - Threatening is going to get you no where; and if you're close enough to threaten him go just go and pick the ******* tyres up!!

Don't **** it up for those of us who have a few mil left on our existing boots!!!!

However, I agree that if he was honest/frank up front about delivery expectations, the frustrations would be a lot less. It could be that he is being let down by his suppliers and so cannot get the tyres to TNT.

Now chill out and be patient.

Had a phonecall from David at Crossroads at lunchtime today. I had been refunded like everyone else, he said he now had my tyres in stock (215/45/17) and we arranged delivery for next wed to suit me and without any prior payment. He was very polite and had all my previous details to hand. I was previously a bit p'd off at the order being cancelled but providing they arrive next week I'll be well chuffed at getting my tyres at a ridiculously low price.

I got his answerphone this morning, and told him I would be there tomorrow morning to pick them (8) up, he rang back two hours later and said that would be fine,
So, i'm going for a gaunt in the morning, and as soon as I get back I'll post up, hopefully, I have a car full of tyres, not going in the scoob, 8 won't fit!!!

Tried several times this morning to check on how things are with my order(if you can call it this as he didn't actually take any money off me yet!). Answer phone every time. Haven't left a message as he's never returned a call to me.

Will keep trying until I heara real voice and not a recorded one.

Keep updating on your experiences so we know where we are.

Have those who haven't got tyres yet seen the group buy that aqua is trying to organise? Might be worth a try.

Got to Crossroad garage @10am today with MY01 Scooby (120 mile round trip) as arranged with David Hunt, I must admit I was doubtful about getting the tyres (4 x 215/45/17 GSD3,s) When I got there David was out and I expected the worst but the staff said "drive your car in and we'll fit them"!!!. They fitted 3 tyres and then I noticed that they were 40,s not 45,s so they took them off and found that the 45,s were not in yet, but were due in before 12. I'm in despair, my car is up on 4 trolley jacks and anyone who has been to Rake will know there is f*** all to do!! I spent an hour wandering around the Garden centre next door, do you know the price of hollyhocks?. I'm expecting the worst as I head back, no tyres should be here soon, spent about 10 mins chatting to one of the guys and the tyres turned up, so they started fitting them. David turned up half way through and I had a long chat with him and he was most apologetic about the wrong tyres being initially fitted, me having to hang around and gave me a VERY good deal on the tyres. He also explained that the response to his tyre deals got out of hand when he was let down over promises that were made to him. He is looking to re-structure the business by renting out another unit on the same site and actually having tyres on site before he advertises them!! I feel Dave is a genuine guy, who due to circumstance, and being less than honest, hoping he could fulfil the orders, got himself a bad reputation. I have no ties to David or the garage and will hopefully continue to use Crossroad garage

Right,
just got back, arrived there at 12 noon as arranged, within half an hour they were fitted to my wheels, and I had paid.
As I saw it, this is a small garage, and I honestly think that David has simply taken on more than he can deal with, in the time I was there, he was constantly on the phone, it wasn't ringing, he was dialling out!!
With regard to the money, I paid cash, he said that due to all the aggro with these tyres etc, the card compny got the hump, and he told them where to stick their machine, so, to all those wanting to pay by card, you can't!!!
For those that are going to visit, the garage is behind the garden centre, you drive as if you're going into the garden centre, and then go to the left.
Ron..

ps,
I know it took a while, but I wasn't desperate for the tyres, and I've saved a small fortune!!

Keep persevering, it may be worth it, I would say that if you're desperate for tyres, go elsewhere, David is up to his eyes in it, and beyond!

Cool

Rich, I originally ordered on the 9/5/03 but got refunded 2 weeks later, David said the next delivery was on 6/6/03, I kept in touch with David Hunt (as much as I could)I phoned David on the 6th and said could I pick up the tyres on the 9th, he said no, too busy, come on the 13th, the rest you know. By way of mitigation Davids' daughter is undergoing some surgery under general anasthaetic today, nothing life threatening, but cause for concern, so his attention has been elsewhere lately.
ATB Dave
