Ron - so if i've got a credit card order in, I'm shafted?? Given the delays, false promises and the general lack of ability to give straight info displayed by this guy so far, I'm reluctant to send a cheque. I get the feeling that doing so would be asking for trouble.
<Cunning plan mode> I'll be in Brentwood, Essex early next week (travelling from N Wales). Does any one reckon it might be worth adding an extra 190-odd miles to my mileage claim by popping over to Liss to pick the damn things up myself? What are the chances that the tyres will be there if I do?? <cunning plan mode off>

just a slight observation, but the people posting from hampshire have got their tyres....
If Dave has binned the credit card machine, how is he supposed to refund me?

I'll try to answer a few queries.
Firstly, I was in a Zafira, and I saw a wr blue 01 (?) come back in for a minute and then dissapear.
Secondly, just because he has binned the machine, doesn't mean he won't get one from another firm, although, this could clearly take time.
thirdly, if you don't have to drive halfway around the planet, pick them up! I did a 160 mile round trip, and I reckon I'll ahve saved about £350 by the time I take into account fuel etc, mind you, I've got 8 tyres!!!
like I said b4, this is a small firm, and I honestly think he's doing his best, and was shocked by the responses he's had.
Give the guy a bit of a break, he's doing us a favour by letting us have theses tyres at this price, at the end of the day, he could have put a tenner on every tyre, and we'd have still thought they were a bargain wouldn't we, but he didn't!!
Mand you, god only know's how little he must have paid for them!! by my reckoning, he must have got about 4000 tyres for his 120K
Just goes to show it pays to know the boss!!

Cheers for the info Barbel but this is where it starts to p1ss me off!!
I ordered on the 15th May, paid on the 15th may by switch, was told the 6th June for delivery, spoke to him on the 6th, told to call back later, no problem, spoke to him this monday, told he would call me back so i could go over that afternoon, same story on tuesday and wednesday. Each day I was willing and ready to go over and get the tyres, at first fitted, but by Wednesday was offering to pick them up from either Rake of Guildford
it intersting what Barbel says about his daughter having surgery, cause he left me a voicemail which although I couldnt make all of it out, said he was at the hospital that morning and would call me back that afternoon to get out. I couldnt make out who he said had the problem but he did say what the ailment was, and it was definately a MALE medical condition.
P1ssed now because I have just had to buy 4 toyos for £410, and havent had a refund from Crossroads although i have asked for it twice, and asked him to call me back to let me know he is doing it.
Was pretty relaxed about it all up until now, and agree he seems a genuine bloke and always pleasent to speak to, but feel I am reluctantly going to have to get a bit more serious about getting the refund now.

RON - I appreciate that David has been under considerable pressure of late; not only has he got issues in his personal life, he's got us lot to deal with.
I have never been anything other than courteous and understanding when I've spoken to David on the phone or via email. I have NEVER been demanding, abusive or threatening.
I agree that David is offering a seriously good deal, and yes, I would be willing to pay him a fair amount more than the price he's asking for a set of GSD3s. But I can't wait any longer.
The scoob's current treads are verging on illegal. The tyres were needed for immediate use, not to be kept in the garage for use in a few months time. This was always explained to David, and I was assured that delivery would take place on such-and-such a date. Several promised delivery dates have now passed.
You have to admit that this put me in an awkward position; I need tyres with increasing desperation but I've done a deal with David and don't want to let him down by cancelling and going elsewhere - David has doubtless put a great deal of effort into this, so the least I could do was be patient, give him a chance to sort things out.
But, several weeks down the line, I have absolutely no idea where I stand with him and his offer. I'm lost. The fact that it's very difficult to get hold of him adds to this, that he has seemingly and repeatedly fobbed me off (a polite way of saying that he's lied to me) makes things worse. All I've ever wanted to know was whether or not I'd be getting the tyres, and if so, when. These are simple enough questions.
I'm now resigned to the fact that the GSD3's won't be coming. I've given up and left a (very polite) cancellation message on his voicemail. I've not lost anything, admittedly, except a little of the respect I had for Crossroad Garage and a fair amount of time.
I've managed to get another reasonably good deal on GSD3s elsewhere, though nowhere near as good as David's offer. Not going to tell you lot about it though, incase they get swamped with orders and i end up writing a similar post in another couple of months
Cheers
Kev

Hehe!! No big secret, James. Getting them through the AA Service Centre at Halfords in Bangor. £87 each fitted, including a 10% discount for being a member of the AA (membership came free with the insurance). Like I said, nowhere near as good as crossroads, but best in the area, and beats most other mail order jobbies when you consider the cost of fitting.

Well, isn't this great!!! So he's binned the card machine, where does that leave all us people who do not live within a 100 mile radius of Liss. There's no way on this earth that I'm paying by cheque, might never see it again! At least with credit card you have some comeback. It's to be hoped he gets this sorted out soon. I will percevere for a few more weeks though as it is an unbeatable deal(well it might be!)
Fingers crossed!

I ordered 29th April and still not got them! I recall dave saying he would contact people in the order that he recieved the original orders, so it rather pleasing to see people who ordered 2 weeks later or after getting tyres! I'd rather pat £150 more and go to local garage who are not compulsive liers! :mad

Austin WRX, i am in the same position as you, ordered early (and have paid by cc, as yet no refund), have been told numerous delivery dates but never received. Should be getting them tommorrow hopefully, will be collecting.
Will let you know how i get on. PS tried to call him today but as usual answerphone. No tyres by Friday will be contacting my cc company to get money back!

I went down on saturday morning,i didnt even know if he would be there, decided i would take a chance.153 mile round trip.
He was there and we had a long talk,i came away with a set of 215/40/17 michelins for £140 YES i paid £140 for 4,it was the only set he had there. All the goodyears are stored at a unit in farnham. To all concerened this is not a short term offer he is doing for us,he has a long term source for the tyres and has more containers on the way,he explained how and where he is getting them.He admitted that he was shocked by the response and wished he had employed someone to solely deal with the tyres. He also said he was aware that he was getting a slatting on Scooby Net.
All he wanted to do was build a bigger customer base so that people would use him for servicing etc etc,Yet it now seems all he has managed to do is make people wary of him and his bussiness,Please can all waiting give him a chance you will get your tyres im sure however it may take a while due to the massive demand.I met him for the 1st time saturday so i have no connection with him and have nothing to gain from this mail.
Tell me where you can get 4 tyres for that money, yes i would have liked the goodyears but having now driven with these on,in the dry they are **** hot.
Good luck all that are waiting,Be patient or buy elsewhere

Its 100% true,He said that no one was interested in them because tey arnt a top brand. They had been kicking around for a while and he wanted shot of them.I got them fitted in tunbridge wells and was told they would be around £75 each plus vat,Now how happy a man am i.Oh yeah it cost me £40 to have them fitted, valves and ballance.I know how he is making money from the goodyears but agreed not to post on here. And for the record he is making very little per tyre but on the whole batch of containers he is doing ok,his words not mine.

I've tried to get tyres from this place but after repeated phone calls, voice mails and even going down to said place in person I have had no joy. I've given up with the bloke/operation and I'm going elsewhere.
Don't think I would let this operation anywhere near servicing my car, after all the BS I've received I don't think I would see the car for the next few years.
The question I ask is why would someone advertise goods at a price, that no one else will match, and then not deliver even when the required cash is available. Seams like a lot of agro to me with no or very little reward ???
This is not a comment related to any specific co. or operation but when I'm presented with a massive bargin me thinks does this involve items falling off the back of some moving object, a container off a sunken boat or has it been made by some factory in China etc !!!!

So, if they're African, will they have the fabled 'e' mark?
Anyway, as one of my previous posts suggested, I went elsewhere and got 4 x GSD3s fitted today. The deal wasn't as good, but at least they're on the car and have a conditional 2 year warranty. If you've not seen GSD3's in the flesh, they are extreeeeeeemley sexy . Not had a chance to try them out properly yet and I'll be mucking about with pressures for the next week or so. Currently trying 32psi up front, 30 at the back, which initially feels a little light up front, compared to the old bridgestones. They're much, much quieter, though

Tried continually to get through yesterday and today - straight through to his answerphone. Left another message for him to get back to me and put me out of my misery - i.e. let me know if can deliver or if not can start looking elsewhere.
Never got back to me in the past so don't hold out much hope now.

I got through this morning and talked to David. He is very busy and the phone never stops ringing. You just have to keep trying and hope you get lucky. He isn't ignoring it.
He told me he's shifting some of the F1's from the Farnham place? to the garage tomorrow afternoon and recommended it best if you visit him to get the tyres, because like people have said before, he has been overwhelmed by the response, and finds it easier to deal with people face to face.
