What's the best car you've ever had for under £100?

Mk3 Escort 1.3GL
Cost £23.20 (all the change I had on me) plus one JPS growler.
Was in good nick generally, absolutely knackered mechanically though.
The gear change was totally random - it just selected whatever it wanted to...
Died about a month later in my mates hands when it went from 3rd to reverse at 55mph on the bypass.
The clutch held (amazingly), but the flywheel sheared a couple of bolts, then took the crank with it, the resulting carnage of suddenly misbalanced reciprocating mass took what was left of the gearbox input shaft with it, gearbox then imploded. A dramatic end for such a complete crock of ****e.
It did corner on three wheels though - which was a hoot

I bought my sister an Austin 7 Ruby for her seventeenth birthday from a scrappie in Evesham. It cost £7-10 shillings! I went back the next day and got a spare engine and gearbox for it sold for the scrap weight of aluminium. She passed her test in it eventually with the examiner showing white knuckles because the brakes were terrible!
