Rally graphics, cool or crap ?
This is a small world David Brown, and one of these day you'll have to face me in person and repeat the above 3 posts. Not a threat, but a promise
And at our encounter, you would like me to repeat the 3 posts stating that I don't like stickered up Imprezas ? That's important to you ? Do you let my comments bother you that much ? (Particularly as they weren't aimed at you, nor different from those made by others)
At 40, I would have thought you have better things to do that make threats, er, promises to people you disagree with on the internet.
It's clear you have personal issues with me not relevant to this thread/BBS, feel free to E-mail me about them.

I can fully understand that people think a stickered Impreza is crap. It is ! But it is not free for you to do pop-psych on my motives. Especially from someone who's biggest reason for not being totally ignored is buying flash cars.
So yes, I would want you to repeat that I did this to impress other people, and say "Clearly, PMSL" when people point out that's not really my nature.
Clear now, truth-conditionally ?

Erm... read up again... 2 of those posts were indeed aimed at me and tried to question my integrity. That happened on this BBS, hence my reply here and not by email

My "Don't mistake 'what an abomination..' glances for appreciative looks." was in response to Mossman saying "You would not believe the response you get".
Which then in turn, I took DocJocks cheap but predictable "he doesn't do it to impress" as in reference to that. I don't see a single reference to you.
Maybe you should now go around threatening er, sorry "promising" all the other people who made comments on this thread that you think for some abstract paranoid reason apply only to you Theo.
Webbie asked to stop, so I will...
I just knew you were gonna play "oh, I didn't know that was your car I directly put a reply under calling it an abomination".
Pure paranoia, I'm sure.
I'll leave you to it now, we'll have a nice chat about it some day.

Another thread where Webbies intervention is required & example of why Scoobynet has lost it's sparkle for me.
At my age I don't find abuse or childish name calling entertaining. but am responding as my attention was drawn to the topic by a third party.
As the biggest boy in the kindergarten I don't think Theo needs me to leap to his defence
I also refuse to be drawn on his involvement with 12 year olds
The fact that he is an insecure little chap that needs the attention and accolades of his peers to bolster his self confidence is obvious to all of us that know and love him. But the rally decals result from my attempt to raise the profile of a cancer charity and although travelling separately from our group he supported that aim.
Just to prevent further spurious comment. They don't feature on his car as I failed to take extra logos to Catalunya last year!
Re Mossman: We were greeted with cheers and waves in Spain which added to the atmosphere and enjoyment of the whole event. We were also inundated with requests for photographs beside the car.
Maybe they are now laughing at snaps of wannabe rally drivers in Spanish bars. If so it's not a problem, I enjoyed "my" rally

Decals are no different to spoliers, dump valves, gold/silver wheels or other additions. Like 'em, hate 'em it's a matter of choice so why ask for approval?
Brakes, tyres, or perfomance mods I'd guage opinion. Style, or lack of it, is defined by the individual.
Would you ask if it was better to paint the bedroom green or blue?
You fancy it so go ahead. But remember, you will stand out:-
-ve: Graphics will make you a target for the boys in blue & road racers.
Upset someone, excess speed/rash overtake you are more clearly identified & no longer have a cloak of annonimity.
+ve: Not the option of choice for a ram raid or bank job
I would only consider them on a r/blue car, tho' Theo's Gold n Black looks quite good (but don't tell him as it will feed his ego)

To add to your story, I bet those people at the tollbooths around Barcelona are still laughing their **** off when they let me/us pass for free. Same goes for the policeman that almost sent us on stage
And I bet Tommi really thought "what a bunch of sad losers" when he happily waved at our abominations under the Vic bridge, with a very big (obviously fake) smile.
Boy did they fool us !

One point you raise I disagree with though (at least over here): I don't seem to draw more attention from the police than before. Still carefully have to hide those 12 year olds of course
, but actually I haven't been stopped once since the decals went on.To the original poster: put them on if you fancy them and don't care too much about what other people think of them. You have to like 'm, not others. 33 % will think you are a sad loser, 33 % will actually smile, 33 % will be totally indifferent or won't notice. (The remaining 1 % is due to statistical inaccuracy
)Daz, that's exactly what I/we did
I am going to deacl my car into oblivion, simply because i'm a ***/mad/simple/hardcore street racer (delete as appropiate),but if its possible to raise money then i will try.
not sure why anyone would want to sponsor a mid life crisis, but i will look into it

Sorry about hiding my email addy, but the internet has moved on, and the abuse was a bit too much.
People like Banshi asking me where to get those 12 year olds and at the same time get a ***** extension, this had to stop

Can you explain exactly where my reply diverges from a direct response to your statement.
It is not "cheap", anyone who knows Theo will agree he does not go around seeking "approval" from others.
It may well be predictable because it is the truth.
Your first 3 posts on this thread were all derogatory remarks about other users cars. But of course, that is not cheap I suppose because you were *only joking*.

Already had the ***** extension, didn't you see it?
It had two doors and was covered in stickers

I have never had any problems with the police in either England or Germany so I really don't think adding decals will make you any more or less likely to get stopped, as for the car getting nicked the same applies, if they want it they will take it stickerd or not, mine has never been touched but saying that car crime in germany is not high on peoples agendas.
Haven't been stoped either, and maybe it's paranoia. But early on a disproporitionate number of patrol cars seemed to appear in the rear view mirror.
On another occasion was passed on a link road to the m/way. Traffic car travelling at speed with blues on, a few miles on there he is tucked away in the bushes.
just concidence I suppose or perhaps guilty concience.

They sponsored the "event" rather than the car, but as I plan to live to 120 some people may think that was the mid life crisis anyway

Just had to

Generally I think it's a "You've got to see one up close to get the effect" thing. Photo's tend not to do decals/graphics justice. I wasn't sure until i'd seen Banshees and now Trousers up close (Cars that is
)
There's very few cars that can carry it of IMHO and the scoob is one of them.

Just to change tack a bit.
I'm 45 Yrs old.
Went shopping for a Scoob last year.Managed to obtain a Type R V-Ltd and this had come from the factory fully stickered and fitted with a 6 point STI roll cage.
Jeeez! I was the happiest **** on earth.
Had to remove most of decals (That nice neon yellow fades in the sun).Still have now white 555 on the roof.
anyway point is.The imprezas popularity came about through rallying So if i can own one that looks like what I perceived to be an impreza, Then me happy .Its about association Ferraris are red. Lancia stratos is in the alitalia livery Mclarens(malboro)and Subarus blue with 555 on it.
Thats MHO. out the way then.
End of thread I guess.

Personally think stickered scoobs look hideous. I think it's the bright yellow that does it - and it's a little more than the go faster stripe that comes as standard on a red Makinen. I do like the name stickers on the side windows, however.
Without getting into it too deep, I fail to see why you've all reacted so violently to DB's posts? You've not only threatened his body, but also resorted to pathetic personal remarks which better belong in a school playground. You asked for opinion and he gave it.

Cem, I used consider them a bit tacky but have sorta got used to it. Rum of course has a valid promotional reason for 'em. I still feel compelled to mention the charity link to avoid the boy (or more accurately pension book) racer image.
Don't think I "reacted". Quite the contrary, just attempted to instil a little light banter which would have been more in evidence had David substituted a smiley for the caps in his abomination remark.

..... either way, its on....
