Bummer ! guess I'll have to try my hand at spray painting - now where was that thread again !
Scooby-Si's idea of trying it out on breakers parts looks like the way I'll try next - at the end of the day it I don't like it still I can always go for the carbon look.

Excellent - email me or post it here - going to definetly give the paint idea a go - guess I just spray parts best as I can - a few coats and then a varnish spray to finish to add some strength once happy with the colour etc..

Well there may be light at end of t tunnel.

The pics of 'Autotechdesign' carbon stuff looks really good. And they do seem to do an alu version.

I have e-mailed them to see if they have any pics of an Alum install in an Impreza.

Will post if I can work out how!!

Well still no luck so I'm going to try Scooby_si idea of visiting the breakers and then painting - in fact I've already been to the breakers and got the side vents and central panel plus a new fog light switch (for my rear fog as I've got in import) for £17 - so now to prime, paint and laquer and try out. Now where was that thread on doing this again?

have they told you how to replace the panels??
I think it is quite a tricky job, especially asyou wont want to mark any of the existing panels that you wont be replacing.
Good luck and keep us posted

Doaney,

How's the spraying going?

I have at last had a response from Autotech and saddly they don't have any pics.
But they are going to send me a sample through the post. I expect it will only be postage stamp size but should be an indication of the quality.
Will chuck in another post when I get it.

Cool

SeepyScoob - I can email you a pic of my new dash - the secret I found was in the inital priming. I could not find any aliminium spray paint at the time so used gun-metal as I though it matched my centre console okay - and this was an experiment. Works and looks quite good - infact want to try and get a second hand centre console so I can spray that as well. One day primer - two coats - next day paint - 2 coats - last day laquear and fourth day fit into Scoob.
How was the sample?

Not to scare anyone off, but in the US I had the silver/aluminum dash kit. It yellowed under the bright California sun and I had to remove it, which is a whole big pain in *ss.

I don't think you'll have that problem in the UK (no sun), but keep the Subie in the shade and you'll be fine.

Word of advice on applying it, rub everything down to clean it and then a twice over with rubbing alcohol to get off greases and oils, test fit the kit first, apply the top edge then slowly peel the tape cover off and apply down. Once this stuffs on its almost impossible to move for good fitment. And if you have to move it or take it off, use a hairdryer on it for 2 minutes to warm up the adhesive to get it to release, then you can move it easier.

I have put some photo's of the kit on my webspace...

Some of files are large so may take time to load if you are on a dialup.
