I can supply you our discs and bell for £495 , but our bells only fit our discs , or I could supply AP discs and make up bells to suit for £650 , you could then get AP discs from anywhere , Cheers Ian
Thanks for that Ian,
you've given me something to think about!
Is this generally how it works? ie. the bell being unique to the manufacturer? (sorry if it's a dumb question!)
If I went the AP route & didn't like the rotors then I would need another set of bells to change to Godspeed ones or vice versa?
thanks again,
Steve.

Yes that is the case , I dont think any of the manufacturers have done it on purpose , we didn't think about that when we designed them , thats just how it ended up , Cheers Ian
Thanks again Ian.
One more point, I would like to have the bells anodised gold (presuming they are aluminium?). I can get this done locally.
If I needed the disk/bell supplied separately in order to do this, is it straightforward for me to put them together again? (another dumb question perhaps)
cheers,
Steve.

As long as you know how to fit a nut and bolt you should have no problems
... it is very easy , We will give you the torque figures so as long as they are done up no more you will have no problems , Cheers Ian
I'm off home now to have at least half a day off this week

Pickle - yes it will be ok to join , we have had someone swap to another kit that isn't in the group buy so you can have there place , I will send you mail , Cheers Ian
Ian,
We spoke early on today, count me in after the 335mm Kit
with DS2000 Pads and Grooved discs, Not sure about the Braided
lines and Fluid do you recommend i.e. do they make a marked difference.

You should get a firmer pedal with better brakelines and the fluid will be less prone to boiling than the OEM stuff.
If you can afford the little extra, you'd be better getting them done at the same time since (AFAIK) the brakes will need to be bled anyway when you dismantle the calipers.

Hi Mark , You have mail , but what ozzy has said is right , you will have to bleed the brakes once the kit is fitted , so for the sake of £65 you may as well get the hoses and fit dot5:1 fluid , this will firm up the pedal , Cheers Ian

He, he. Mine arrived this afternoon; God they are HUGE
The instructions won't show the pics since the uploader thingy is FUBAR'd.
Jonathan (Silversmith) sent me the pics, so I'll upload them later this evening for everyone.

Its working on my computer at the moment
Just tried the site again and it's fine. Must admit it wasn't working the other day when I tried! Mine haven't turned up yet
Maybe tomorrow!
Ps can anyone confirm the size of the tap needed for the fitting?

Yup looks cool,
I went for the 308mm kit with brembos (because the red matches the car
) - a very tight fit around the calipers.

If your wheel is buckled you've had it
Had to pummel the air deflector thing into shape to clear the disc but its worth the minor hassle.
Still bedding in discs/pads but pretty good already, very smooth pedal feel.

Hi m8,
Yeah, the mechanic said they fitted easily.
The only things he mentioned were the 4 retaining pins obviously couldn't be reused after the calipers are expanded with the spacers. He had too fit some temporary bolts so that the anti-rattle clips could go back on. He said it's no real problem as nothing will "fall-off", but if they're not re-fitted then the pads can move around too much inside the caliper.
Also, Ian supplied me with 3x500ml of brake fluid, but the mechanic only need to use one
That's the only two things that stood out from the install.
Do you guys have access or own a Tap to increase the caliper mounting bolt holes? I sourced one locally for about £20; this included the actual M14x2mm intermediate tap head itself (£8) and the hand-held tap holder (£10).

Main problem with mine was getting the old hoses off (replaced with braided). The front n/s one had seized and I almost rounded the nut getting it off, used mole grips in the end which did the trick. I recommend spraying releasing oil on the nuts the day before if changing hoses.
Also the old discs were a bit sticky too - got the technique by the second one.
Prise a large masonary chisel between disc and strut (using something to protect disc) and tap with hammer. Rotate the disc and repeat until it cracks off.
Hope this helps.

Hi lads,
Just had an e-mail from Ian to say that the pins had simply been left out my kit. He's sending some out tonight for me, so if you've received the 335mm kit can you check if you have the pins or not and let Ian know.
The normal kit should include:-

2 x 335mm discs
2 x alloy bells (already fitted to the discs)
4 x disc pads (Mintex, Ferodo or EBC depending on what you specified)
2 x caliper mounting brackets
8 x replacement mounting bracket bolts (should be attached to brackets)
4 x caliper spacers
8 x replacement caliper bolts
** 4 x replacement retainer pins (missing from the picture) **
Cheers,
Stefan

Thanks for pics n comments Rich, Ozzy.
Ozzy - I dunno how much fluid brake system holds, but it'll be more than 500ml. In other words if you havent put in the 1500ml there is still some of the old stuff in the system.
Personally i'd put it all in so i knew everthing was brand new and not "contaminated" with old fluid !
Cheers - Cant wait for mine now !!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks
Dave

That's what I thought, but the mechanic swears he flushed it completely and only used 500ml to fill it back up
All the fluid was there to be used, so I can't see why they would leav any of the old cr@p in the system
I posted a question here to try and clarify things.
