Meets in glasgow area.
Once posted for an impromptu meet at the car park at the Aberfoyle end of the Dukes Pass expecting about 3 cars to turn upas there were only a couple of replies. I think there was nearly 10 of us in the end. A few blast back and forward along the Dukes Pass and then finshed the night off with a bring your own BBQ. Great driving and company, and a good feed. Plus got some great driving video stuff as well.
Derek - You could still go to Knockhill and I'll lend you a portable TV and lunchtime to watch whatever footbal match it is (don't know a thing about football myself. Any further news on that Police training?
Cheers Iain
Yellow S2 Elise (very shiny and no duct tape anymore)

Iain,
You could persuade me m8. As for the Police meet, that is still in the pipeline, probably setting it up for September. I am currently working on a venue & date then once its planned, I'll be circulating an e-mail to those interested the 1st time and we'll take it from there. The traffic guys are very keen to have a chat with us and the Sgt thats organising it is on the phone a few times and has even popped over to my house for a chat too so they are very approachable.

Finally got around to putting it into bodyshop to get all the wee bits and pieces from my various escapedes during my learning curve, at the start of last year, all put right. They did a great job and it looks like new now. Reckon I will have to start cleaning it again, though not sure how long that will last.
Anyone going to Knockhill on Saturday, whether on track, or spectating?

skyenet, I like the sound of the meet that you describe.
I'll be moving to Bute in April, and I need a regular 'fix' to help me overcome withdrawal symptoms from the Exmoor run down here in sleepy Somerset.
I know - no SUL on the islands so what am I going to feed the STi wagon on? Initially I guess I'll have to rely on additives mostly, and fill up with the proper stuff every time I take the car on the mainland. Perhaps the march of progress will eventually bring SUL ower the watter?
Anyway, I'm up for some sort of Scoob socialising in the Glasgow area, so keep me informed.

All we need for a good meet, is a bit of momentum and some enthusiasm from the attendees.
Hands up who enjoyed the banter and lunch at The Monkton Lodge between Christmas and New Year. I recall everyone being in a downer about the Glasgow and Southern meets back then too.
Right, so where's this meet going to be, are we going karting or for some lunch ?

Spring is a coming and I think if we all put our minds to it we could organise monthly meets fairly easily. Don't the Aberdeen crew have monthly pub/runs. I'd gladly work out a timetable and locations if at least a few of us are up for it.

It always turns to this
<<CORNER>>
Dave
You know that myself, Dougster and Cosmic would be there if we can make it
Monthly meets/runs would be good if everyone is willing to mahe the effort

If it is a regular event then probably easier for people to plan to be free to make it along. Kid friendly helps me manage to attend. If I think of any suitable places I will post it up.
For example the Dukes Pass run turned out a really good night. For anybody that hasn't been up there it is a 7 or 8 mile stretch of very twisty roads through a forest. Roads were pretty clear and great fun, well in an Elise anyway. About the only other road users were some motorcyclists who were also out for an evening run. We just did a few runs back and forth along it and then we got out a couple of disposable BBQs and had a good feed. Cheap and enjoyable night. Nice run back down over the Campsies.

Found it on multimap. Holy f**k! That's the place which makes my mrs very sick because I can't help enjoying a drive there! Never been there in a scoob yet, must be grrrreat fun!
It's my second favourite road after A819 which is also a twisty thing in the forest. BTW A819 has less of sickening effect on the passenger, it's a bit less twisty and doesn't go up-n-down as much as Dukes Pass.
A93 north of Perth is also a good fun, esp in the hight as it has more traffic during the day. The poles with light-reflecting tops are spectacular!

KSY - If the Duke's pass makes your wife sick, you should tackle the fore mentioned stretch of road on a motorbike, it is awesome.
The Aberdeen group meet on the 1st Tuesday of each month at a pub out of town (to ease possible congestion in car park or within the pub itself). Spring is a coming so we could go for this in April.
Why don't we say the 1st Monday of each month and see who can attend. All thats really required is choosing a good sized establishment with good parking space & wouldn't be that popular on a Monday night ?? Any idea's. Infact what about Showcase Cinema's complex. Do they not have a pub/food joint. Car Parking wouldn't be a problem unless every Scooby in Scotland arrives

Was quite surprised just how well the Elise did up against some sports bikes on the section. That same night I took video following right on the tail of one. He couldn't shake me off and at all. Spoke to the guy after and he said it was the only car that had ever kept anywhere near him. Probably all the practice I had going round corners at Kames :-) Think some of the stills on my Dukes Pass link show me on his tail. I love Dukes pass as you can have great fun without probably even breaking the speed limit. Took my bike up there but it was abit slippy that day so just took it nice and easy. Another great road for Bike and Elise (and any hire car) is the A814 Garelochhead to Arrochar road. That should realy make Sergy's wife sick.
I have been on some meets where most of the day is spent driving and don't find that as enjoyable. Some short interesting driving and then some form of chatting and eating sounds good. Activity based meets (Karting, Paintball etc) don't always suit everybody or people can't always manage the additional expense.

Dougster,
http://finance.yahoo.com/m5?a=29&s=GBP&t=RUB says it's 1448.64 roubles today, that's what some engineers get paid for two weeks of work in Russia!
Still up for practice though, just not sure when. I'll send you an e-mail when I know, because I don't have your number.
