Calum,

It was good to see you there. Maybe see you next time.

The STi with the amazing note belongs to the fella sitting next to me at the end of the row of tables. I'd been told about it but that was the first time I'd actually heard it. It's absolutely brilliant

If you're serious about getting an Impreza, I recommend you speak to some peeps in the know with a view to a private deal. Sticker price off the T&C forecourt is not going to make financial sense.

I'm not the best person to ask but I'm sure JohnS will be delighted to point you in the right direction.

Whichever way you go, there's a fair chance that someone here will know the history of a local car you're looking at.

Cheers,

N

Chaps,

It was great to meet everyone tonight and hear so many amusing stories ............meeting up with you guys was a bad idea though . I went straight down T&C for a sniff around the forecourt !
Not sure who had the scoob (regi :-*** ARL) but it sounded AWESOME :- what model was that and WTF was that cabbage firing exhaust on it ?

Green with envy !

Cheers

Calum,
That would be me with the ***ARL Sti The car is a Type UK Prodrive Sti, c/w the Prodrive Performance Pack (PPP), which takes the car up to 300 BHP, with 300 Ft/lbs of torque lower down the rev range. Amongst a few other bits and pieces around the car, I have changed the exhaust from the Prodrive stainless steel item to the Subaru Sti titanium system. Apparently, this is as close to the rally car spec you can buy from Subaru (at rally car prices!) My one came in to the UK from Japan in the boot of an import car and was sourced by a good friend and a fellow club member at a fraction of the new price. Compared to a stainless steel item it is as light as a feather...and sounds quite good too :cco: When I got in the car last night it was still warm on the temp gauge...and I new Numptie wanted to hear it

Like Numptie says you will get sound advice from JohnS. I would have a good look around the North East; Brian Downie in Kemnay is definitely worth a visit. He deals in good quality cars, in fact one of the local lads just traded his Sti 5 Type R in there for an Sti 7. The type R is a peach of a car and damn quick too. Excellent example and well looked after. Just had a look at Saturday’s paper and he has a choice of 7 or 8 turbos from 8K to £21K sitting at his place. Most have down pipes, bigger alloys, etc, already fitted. www.briandowniecarsales.co.uk I am not connected to (or related to) Brian Downie, just now good service when I see it.

Hope this helps,
Jools

Larry; Good shout

My beloved wife "Arlene" was just standing behind me and saw the posting you put up

She says "Arl belongs to Jools...huh really! No No, you belong to me!"

Made me laugh : D

Eric,

Thanks for the info.

I think both myself & Jools are insured with Elephant.co.uk so I was interested in their view of the PPP.

From other posts it appears that no two people have had the same response from companies such as Directline, Privilege, Elephant..... and that it depends upon who answers the phone!

I haven't called them yet and wanted to know what to expect.

Cheers, Mark

PS: Hannah is now 10lb 4oz and doing fine, myself & Alison are both knackered though!

Try Bell Direct in Cardiff

I get a great deal from them for my Classic Scoob with Mods Declared.

Brian,

Logged on here tonight and read your suggestion ....I had actaully just logged on after going straight to Brian Downie's after my T tonite. ( after reading the thread at work today)
Talk about scooby heaven . I really fancied the blue classic with gold wheels (W-reg) but it had just been sold . So the search continues ! I think I pissed him off though, his accent was hellish to understand and he spoke so quickly ( rich coming from a Weigy)

After hearing (not unexpectedly ) of Shells job losses, everything could go on hold now though ! I expect house prices in Lowestoft will suffer big time....All is beiong broken to employees tommorow AM - John S - will you be back from illness to attend ?

Thanks again guys

ps Infinity - i think you were behind me after the old dutch mill -looks like your were taking it easy - the roads were v.greasy after that dry spell and then rain showers .
