Got to laff at this
No matter how many meets get organised and everyone says on here they are coming....
...come the day of the meet do they come, do they ****!!!!!
Always the usual suspects turn up, could count them in one hand..
Everyone should have a look at the other "AREA" forums and see how many meets, events are organised, even the Sheep ******** have regular meets

Like Za, I tried this about 18 months ago and had about 4 or 5 guys turn up. Its very easy to say you are gonna attend then never show up. It does get annoying but I think you need activities to attract the numbers. I would be interested in anything in the near future as long as it fits round my shifts/days off etc. Will keep an eye on this thread.

So what is the reason for the no shows then? Are you lot that unfriendly or summit LOL!
Glasgow (and the rest) is a fair old size, so maybe have two rotating locations that may entice the 'no shows' into turning up. In my experience people are lazy gits, but if its close enough they will come.
Paul and I have attended meets previously with another car club, so we're used to the 'expect 10 and only 4 turn up' scenario.
I'd quite like meets as long as people are friendly.

Well I'm friendly enough (well I think so anyway).
Lets try & set one up soon since the nights are starting to be more lighter. I would have liked to meet some of you's at Knockhill on Saturday but a certain football match will be screened on the TV at lunchtime.

hi guys. i agree with you. but i have to say that the bitching that goes on here must put people off. who wants to turn up when they no the regulars are going to moan there faces of because of small numbers. i was in club gti for a few years which met at west highway hotel on great western road in clydebank and the numbers there were not great every week but sometimes it was busy. maybe it would be a good idea if the meetings were held at the same place and time as the club gti boys. when you think about it both parties enjoy modding cars so there is common ground to strike up conversation after you have your meeting. well it was a thought. not sure if they still hold the meetings there, there was talk of them going over to the tulip inn across from the nautical collage in glasgow.

you've got to admit that people are more likely to show up if an interesting meet is organised, take the paintball yesterday, very successful day and great fun, loads of peeps showed up, need something similar to this. was dam fine to see a glasgow meet actually work, lets build on this and set something up soon.

We had a couple at Gleniffer Braes car park last year with some of the Ayrshire boys meeting up with us also.
I also mentioned Carbeth Inn on the Stokiemuir Road, as they always welcome petrol-heads, usually with only two wheels.
Runs out to the Trossachs or down Loch Lomond can be planned from this venue.
Someone mentioned a curry and also the go-karts get people interested judging the turn-out at last event. I can get prices from ScotKart in Clydebank if anyone fancies a Grand Prix night.

As i seem to know you all (by name anyway)i would be up for it aswell.
How about extreme adventure which is the old Blackshaws farm in Ayrshire(where the weans used to go and feed the Lambs!!)that place lets you go wild on 250cc quads and they have over 350 acres for u to play in.We did it as a report for the Glasgow Herald magazine and had a larrf.
Just an idea, but the runs up the Trossachs sound good.

Dougster, you could find one if looked round there last week end!
I went to Ben More (was lucky to get back alive) and been to Loch Lomond too - it was sooo warm just like in summer, so I just walked into water!
My scoob got used to optimax now, and that's fun. Also had to go sideways on purpose first time in my life - force it from understeer to oversteer on a wet slip road. A wee scary but scoob really does it!

I used to windsurf in Loch Lomond at Duck Bay and Millarochy Bay in all seasons! Plus the river Clyde at Helensburgh. It was really cold in the winter and that was with me wearing a wetsuit!
I'd also be up for some kind of meet in the Glasgow area.

AJ, I also dunked (not sure it's the right word) my wee son's feet into Loch Lomond, and my mrs didn't go mad about it - that was strange!
I've seen strange people like you - surfing at Troon and scuba-diving at Arrochar, all in winter and sometimes under rain. That's too crazy, I'd better walk Loch Lomond instead!

Oh, you're awful!
So what about Clydebank karting? They have a web site, and I've got a wee yellow paper that promises me 1GBP discount on a practice session! That's 29GBP for 3x12 minutes then.
