quote:
Daley Thompson's Decathalon was what killed my joystick

I snapped a mates Cheetah joystick on that game.

Gunship rocked.

What was Gunship 2000 on? Was that the one where you had wingman, had to escort rescue choppers etc?

Last ninja - now you're talking.

Anyone remember the old Kempston joystick interface for the speccy? Shove it in and go - no drivers or crap like that to load like we do these days on the PC.

Lords of Midnight has actually been converted to the PC somewhere on the Net. You can also get Chuckie Egg!

There's an underground bunch of coders who are actively converting old speccy and c64 classics to run on the PC!

Anyone remember Skool Daze ?

Skool Daze - what a classic!

Wasn't there a follow up called something like Back to Skool?

Yeah, didn't last long after playing Daley Thompson's Decathalon, ripped the stick off after the 1500m cycle race. Exhausting all that wrist action

been playing that Elite-the new kind this week, work has been much more enjoyable...its fun dealing with narcotics on the side

Who remembers the cartridge based Text Adventures for the VIC20 - Pirates Cove etc, we had several and it took MONTHS to finish them.

Get up

Get Pillow

Open Window

Go Ledge

AND I had the 16K expansion pack - the hooky one that you could move dip switches on to go from 4K to 8K to 16K - WOWSY - the VIC had a whole 2K of RAM as STD!!!!!!RAOFLMAO

I've still got it too.........

Yeah, StarGlider - the first game that used a 'real' person's voice in the music.

'Starglider...by Rainbird, Rainbird, Rainbird' - all together now!

Remember bugging the author of the game on his Prestel account asking for more lives, weapons, etc... when I was 10

Talking of Prestel, did anyone have a Prestel account / Micronet 800 account back the days of yore with their speccy or bbc'b ?

I had a Miracle technologies WS2000 modem, which ran at 1200/75 baud or 300/300!

Mmmm. Anyone remember StarGlider? On the 128 version it had superb sound - just a shame it took 14 minutes to load from tape!

I actually sold a loading screen for Jetman III (one of the Jetpac series) to Ultimate, but they never used it. I was 10 at the time - my first contract.
