Spent some time rescaling the MAF calibration so that with the present induction I can still have some resolution.... max ECU load is 56.5 IIRC, now got it maxxing at 56 on transients, 52 or 53 on full boost in the midrange where the torque is.

Beauty of this is I now have a MAF signal I can replicate as a genuine basis for my box's calibration. Having tried various other ideas fooling JECS, the ECU runs things much better this way and the maps are far easier to follow. Of course when I then change the induction and turbo the VE will change, but at least I will have something to start with on this engine/manifold/heads etc.

Then I can swap between the load sources without reflashing the ECU.

New turbo supposed to be being sent this week. Rounding up a few odds and ends to go with it.

Got enough ECUs to play with now. The MAF conversion box works, but needs acceleration enrichment added as the MAP doesn't respond as quick as the MAF. http://www.simcar.com/literature/sae940759/convflow.htm
It does go a bit lean on throttle snaps despite the zones it goes through being OK for static use.

Think the P450 is a GT30R with a P20 housing. The bigger ones aren't bolt on to my knowledge. They don't publish specs, I'm going off Harvey's results really.

Power spec basically and different fitments. The P450 just bolts on, custom up and down pipe is needed for the P650 too.

Needs to be fabricated to the car depending if you wish to clock the turbo or not.

Hayward and Scott will knock one up for you, or various people/companies up and down the country.

Thanks C.S.I.
Don't see many companies offering up and downpipes for "clocked" turbo's in this country.
Do you know of any?

If H&S do them, are they available "off the shelf"?

Nope they dont do them off the shelf.. the p650 uses a wierd exhaust housing, looks like the DSM housing. Not a standard Garrett Exhaust housing.

John are there compressor maps available for the p450 and p650?

David, no official maps, but I believe it is about 52lb/min at about PR 2.8 or quite like that Garrett map.

Wouldn't want to go bigger as I think the road driveability would be ruined, I hope this one isn't too big.

I've not upped my game since 19/2/03 when this project thread started though

I often wished I had not modified it this far, but in for a penny, in for a pound....

or maybe like in for 5 grand why not spend 15 whilst you're at it

Only due to circumstances beyond your control though....

So..errmm...if you're really close to your target..... then.....errm....why did you buy another 2.5 engine?.....

All joking aside, since you are going for the 450, i think you'll exceed your targets quite easily on the 2.5

the P450 is ***supposed*** to be getting fitted to lower EGT's and to try and get rid of the cars addiction to octane/additives.

aye right, that will last all of two weeks with boostaholic banks!!!!

Well it seemed like a bargain at the time. I actually got it in case I blow up this one, as highish power applications on a standard EJ257 are still relatively experimental.
