Claudius, I have no axe to grind here, and no real desire to defend Ian as he plainly doesn't need it. I also think that if there is a problem with a supplier's kit that it should be aired in a constructive manner as that really does help all the board, and ultimately the supplier if done in the right way by both parties.

But...

Have you tried these discs and pads?
No.

Have you had any experience of these discs and pads with Imprezas?
No.

Does the overwhelming evidence of this thread suggest that Impreza owners who use the kit are happy/delighted with it?
Yes.

So why are you picking over old news that has been explained and now rectified????? What is in it for you? It appears that you're setting out to damage Ian's business for no reason whatsoever other than you feel like it.

There has been an issue with an evo owner which Ian has explained on here. The evo owner is not you. Why get so emotionally attached to the whole debate? What are you trying to gain? Other than strengthening your near legendary wind-up skills ?

Ian appears to have a refreshing attitude to customer and product support, and I value his contribution to this BBS. Believe it or not, I value your input too as your contribution recently has been good and informative, and I've enjoyed reading it.

From an independent viewpoint, it appears that these kits are great and if I wanted to spend out on a brake kit, this would be my first point of call. As I brake like a granny (32k on OEM pads I tell ya!) I don't need to

Please could you rein in the mudslinging, accept the explanations and also accept that the vast majority of those who use Ian's services are very happy with the kit that he provides?

Cheers,

Nick.

Everyone can enjoy (and does) meaningful debate... but if this results to mud slinging IT WILL BE LOCKED.

Not casting aspertions, just letting you know I am keeping a watchful eye.

If anyone *does* have a beef with someone on a personal level, then please keep it off this board.

Regards,
Shaun.

Easy, guys! Dont get me wrong! I am not trying to harm the guy in any way, I dont know him and I accept that the problem mentioned was fixed.

I was simply a little disappointed that I didnt get an answer to my technical enquiries regarding disc expansion temperature which would enable me to get a theoretical idea of warping probability.

I'm not trying to harm him, on the contrary, actually: I offered to try the discs and pay for them if they withstand my abuse. That's hardly trying to harm, isnt it? Quite a few people have tried the discs I recommended on the MLR. So that would mean more business for Ian. I suggested that (by mentioning "the other way of looking at the situation") but it doesnt look like Ian understood it or if he did agreed with it. Which is his choice and I accept it

Cool, cheers Claudius. To my superficial eye it appeared that you were on a mission. Accept that you're not.

No problem, mate. I can see that you still think of me as the trouble maker I used to be, but please try and look at my posts in a more positive way Just trying to help / give food for though / be cautious, especially when something important for safety such as brakes is involved. If my post to Ian was worded somewhat aggressively, then I apologise; but then again, he wasnt being particularly polite either...

well to add fuel to the fire my discs were checked out by a certain rally team and i got told to "throw them away' and "get a new set" which i won't be doing so ian do you still want these back to try and grind flat knowing a specialist would put them in the bin.

well yes i spose but it's time without the car, i need it every day so to be without while ian does the discs is somewhat hard. i know ian says two days max with overnight delivery but it's a bit hard to believe. but then on the other hand i've had a few e-mails from regulars on here who say send them back and take advantage of the warranty and you will get the new discs. i dont know maybe i should get a set of brembos instead.

SB, why don't you just whip the discs off and send them overnight to Ian as suggested? You could have got this completely sorted by now, but you're still messing about.

Nobody is ever going to replace discs without inspecting the old ones. Not Godspeed, not AP or Brembo or whoever. It's just tough that Ian isn't local to you.

Best wishes,

Richard.

Claudius matey, why not buy the disks if you want to try and warp them so much? And if you do I'm sure Ian would be overjoyed to change them for such an appreciative customer. No such thing as a free lunch and all that.

Also if i bought a telly from Dixons or similar and it didnt work properly, I'm sure they'd be within their rights to say bog off if you wouldn't take it back for them to have a look at!

As good old Wogan would say, "is it me?"

Cal (shaking his head and waiting for the next exciting instalment of the brakes saga)

actually currymonster when our telly was delivered it was damaged and one phone call later we had a new set delivered and they took the damaged back so you don't always have to return goods to be inspected first before getting a replacement.
ok so due to the amount of e-mails i'm gett in g the discs will be sent to ian monday overnight so he gets them tuesday and i will be expecting them back by friday at the latest. so ian if your reading this it's over to you now prove me wrong.

Scooby boy - If I had sent you the parcel and it was damaged in transit then I would also have replaced them then , but youve had the brakes on for how long 9-10 months , so it's not the same as you tele !...

I will need the brakes here for 1 full day so yes you will be proved wrong , perhaps you'll stop winging then

Cheers Ian

Yes but if you ring at the right time, you get Ian, and he doesn't need to pass you on to anyone else: he IS an expert, and a thoroughly nice guy too.

Guys,

I live in Oz (and its a nice sunny 32degC here at the moment...) which its states on my posts - so Im not really a 'potential client' for Ian. All the same he was the first to answer a question I posted about brake seals (and he also replied a second time) - to me (and obiviously a few others here) that means a lot. It shows that he isn't just involved in this BBS for commercial gains and is prepared to assist others even if it wont (directly) win him a sale. Even more impressive was that (after thanking him for his help) when I asked whether he would ever export his systems to OZ he offered for his brother (soon to emigrate here) to bring a set. If it wasnt for the fact that I had just bought a 2nd set of 4 pots for my MY98 (which I had stated) he would have had another customer.

Just my 2 cents,

adam

Hello,

just back from Nogaro, where I hammered my Japanese performance brakes I got from Fair Import to no end with high performance pads and AP Racing 550 brake fluid. They turned blue, orange and white, but the brake performance was always the same. Amazing. The disc isnt worn, not even a bit, pads are like new. Just need new tyres now LOL

Hi Claudius,

can you tell me more about your kit?

Who does it?

Price?

Availability?

Pics?

I guess you tried it on your EVO?

Thanks

Hi ric!

How's it goin man? Long time no hear (since the driveshaft story).

In fact, I have got these brakes on some old scooby I bought a few days ago that needed them. They are available for the Evo as well, single piece or two piece, slotted, made out of some metal that withstands temperatures that Ian wouldnt believe also available floating type (which is what my Evo is getting )

My tuner doesnt want me to give out the full specifications for these brakes, but you can contact him directly at sales@fairimport.com and tell him you want those brakes.

Cant remember the exact price, since I also bought other stuff (calipers, suspension, boost controller, etc) but I think it was around £600. Availability 4-6 weeks (made to order in Japan).

Hi Claudius,

yep - everything ok! Have much work at the moment with our cup, check out www.streetcar-cup.ch

So it is just the discs you're changing? You keep the sh**tty OEM EVO caliper?

With a floating disc the judder should be gone.

I will contact your tuner about these brakes, lets hope they are as good, as you say....

thanks

Kick up a fuss ? but the outcome ended up the same , if you listened to me you would have had them done weeks ago , I bought my RB5 from Cross country vehicles where you work so should have done the same with the problems I had with it !

Your discs will be with you today I sent them out last night .

God, I have never heard such a bunch of whinging ******* in all my life. Ian, how you keep you cool with this lot is beyond me.

I have used godspeed discs, and upon comparison seem as strong as any other. Scooby boy it sounds to me like everything that gets in your hands seems to break anyway which says a lot about how you treat stuff and drive anyway... and I dont care if your dad owns a garage or you are a "scooby Technician".. you are still a muppet.

As for the rest of you... if you dont like it then dont buy it but you moaning *******s are what is spoiling the scoobynet and driving the original members away. Its getting like a Under 18's max power debate. No wonder some People are having to wait for Kits being delivered... he is having to spend most of his day justifying himself on here.

Many of you are the same people who used to mail me for tyres and then never order them..... time after time. It does get wearing when you try your best.

smanning why don't you go take a running jump if it annoys you that much don't read it it's that simple a bit like you really. people were probably just after quotes for their tyres which is allowed just coz they ask don't mean they are going to buy.
and while we are on the subject we are not driving people away it's the people who have to revert to name calling doing that. grow up and join the max power club or some other small minded people forum
