Why has no one mentioned a 306 gti-6??

170bhp (almost), great handling, relatively inexpensive to run, INSUREABLE, and for your money you should get a facelifted model (97-), in a nice colour, with full history, and average miles.

Easy to mod, and come with half leather, and A/C etc.

NB They can't be that bad................I'm looking for one!!

How about a 95/96/97 My UK Turbo Impreza - not the fastest but under 6 secs to 60 and 15 secs (ish) to 100. They seem to be around 5-7K at the moment. Insurance will be cheaper than an import and they seem fast enough to leave most stuff for dead including new bug eye WRX's!

2wd saff cosworth! cheap and cheerfull not to mention the back end out fun u will have! insurance aint that bad i pay £1100 i'm 22 with 2 bans on me licence.
StudentScooby... are you serious? Where did yo umanage to find that and what do you think of the Saff's reliability??

Looked at one about 18 months ago and with 3 years NCB and no points let alone bans, I was looking at £1200 f/comp... Decided to leave the one that I looked at alone as it had been sitting for over 2 years and although loked mint on the outside, was mouldy on the inside and the engine was a dog!

Rover 620Ti
Renault 21 Turbo

Both quick cars you could buy, modify and insure sensibly for less than 6k

Forget the 306 GTi-6. Get a 306 Rallye instead. Faster and rarer. A rather nice one for sale (99-S) at the mo on the forsale section only £5900. Get ya skates on, this car will go on Saturday.

You can get a very good condition, low mileage VTS for that money if you haggle. Not as good an all round car as the GTI-6 but similar performance and probably cheaper to insure and run.
