The block looks very good, just a quick question if anyone can help me is there any site or thread that has pics of upgrading the earth system as I would like to do it to MY99 but would be really helpfull to see where someone has done it already so I can use it as a guide.

cheers

Yea, sorry Phoenix, we shouldn't have flamed you like that.
But most of the info I think you need will be in this very thread.

As for "affording" the proper kit...
It's because I do things for myself I am able to afford an Impreza in the fisrt place.
I take pride in being able to manufacture things like this which would have otherwise cost me £100 odd quid.

oops more flames ..

Plus if it goes wrong cant blame anyone else.lol

Question

Just as a side issue, where could I get the full kit from? I tried Scoobymania but they don't do them...

Thanks

It's improving the ground points for the chassis, engine block (or manifold), alternator, etc..

The original ground points are pretty bad. Older cars seem to see more of an improvement. I've not noticed any improvement on my MY99 RB5 from adding the ground points (although I've still to do the alternator).

after consultation with owner of aluminum bar the price for the block on it's own is going to be,
£30
the gold ringlets I expect to be about £1 each and you need 7,(6 for block and 1 for standard smaller earth wire.)
£7. difficult to work that one out.

1 off 8mm x 45 BZP bolt
6 off 8mm x 20 BZP allen cap bolt
£1.00

One larger ringlet to fit the original fat cable no price on yet.
Realise you will have to solder this one on yourselves folks same as one of the smaller ringlets !!

Cable not any idea of cable length required yet, after 14th March the car is going to be in bits so will have a measure up then !
oh and no idea on price for that yet either (had my mind focused on other mods )

well that's the state of play so far.

£38 so far, no cable and one connector missing
not so cheap as I thought

Andy

edited cos I can't count. Doh!

No, but they still built it quicker than you can finish that car of yours

I'd still like one....when you have time

Where can the cable to the ECU bracket go through the bulkhead? With the car intact I can't see / reach any obvious gromits on the passenger side to use?

Thanks

There is a gromit in the passenger side footwell cos my amp is wired through it to the battery. Might be easier to see from the bonnet end.

Do use search sometime... but since my WRX ain't got a hole there ( full of some electric gizmo .. air con ? ) it wasn't much use, the only hole is where the ecu loom leaves, behind all sorts of trim!

May well have to use the drivers side one and pull it through!

OK, I'll let you off with a warning then

So, there's no grommet above your ECU at all? Not even for the air con drainage pipe?

My aircon uses that pipe, but I just threaded my amp power and the ECU ground through it.

Certainly nothing where you have the wires going, just the big black bunch of wires to the above right of your route!

Didn't try the air con pipe hole in case of abrasion, worth another look I guess
