Cool

Steve G... While we all realise that nothing will ever be more popular than scoobies, and their derivatives, the mister 2 forums are in fact pretty busy.
Cheers
Andy
PS... anyone see EVO No. 50?? Check out the Tailslide section in the rear! made me giggle like an idiot for a while!!

================================================== ===============
It seems as though some people are trying to cross dress their cars.
If i need to go shopping and carry people around with me i'll use the saloon, if i want a sports car i'll use the MR2 - simple.
It's one or the other really is it not?

Is a real sports car supposed to hold more than 2 people?
I thought that was for saloons and estates.
I guess a performance car can be either though!

By the looks of things it seems as though the MR2 is a better performance car than the scooby BHP for BHP (accoring to our seemingly impartial scientist's statistics), and the scooby holds the road better when its wet(my opinion because it's 4X4 - Mr2 is more fun though, if you can drive it properly in those conditions).

Don't really care really what anyone thinks, i'll continue to enjoy my car and not worry about comparisons....

I use to need the practicality of the scoob. I dont now, so the replacement can be totally inpractical . However, the replacement maybe another scoob (they are great cars but getting lardy), but also looking at a 2nd hand 996 and a 350Z (when it appears), sorry to say the MR2 didnt make the cut though .

Ooops, sorry i forgot to mention - Cletterridge you are obviously a highly education person and your input has been extremley worthy of deserved respect from all of us on this topic.

Just shows how CORRECT facts and not opinions settle "disagreements" like these - Well done to that man.

With a little more education about any given topic, we could stop the process of continually fooling ourselves with our own opinions by backing them up with CORRECT facts before we open our mouths, keboards etc....

Opinions eh - who needs them....

Just remember that the figures posted are based on the gearing also being optimal. Since most of us don't have the freedom to pick out ratios, we just get stuck with the factory ones, the speeds posted may not be achievable in real life.

As an example, suppose we have some imaginary car that's geared to do 20mph / 1000 rpm in top gear, and needs 250BHP to reach 150 mph. 150 mph is going to be 7500 Rpm, so the engine needs to produce 250 BHP at 7500 rpm to hit 150 mph. If power peaks at lower Rpm then drops off it won't do it

Cheers Adam, seen as they are the same limited edition RA model it looks like my original statement was correct .

Like they said though you cant compare an grey import MR2 Turbo against a grey import impreza as it isnt fair to the MR2 .

Cletteridge just found your MR2 homepage (I assume its yours ??)

http://www.benerridge.freeserve.co.uk/costs.htm

Interesting article, shame you only managed to get to drive a sport though and a classic UK scoob is 1235kgs and I averaged 23mpg in my old MY98 UK (about normal) not 1340kgs and 21mpg so the PTW is higher and cost a little less. A good fair article though and spot on about other costs.

I thought this thread had been deleted to save disk space .

If you want a 2 seater buy the MR2 otherwise buy a scooby end of story.

hah, if u wanna 2 seater, buy a Scoob and remove the back seats!

the mr2Turbo is nice but not quite as nice as my impreza .

great bang per buck though, cheaper to buy than a scoob.

doesnt look like the n/a impreza: my mate has a 2.0 sport with all the wrx bits on it

sounds better: i will give you that one although my 300 sounds justthe same when you unplug an injector

and as for handling i can leave most scoobs on the twisties given that its dry

Just want to make a point, and don't want to kick up a hornets nest, BUT...

Cosworth states that from his source of information that during the MR2 production (the MK2) the turbo was changed to a twin entry. The 3S-GTE engine has always had a twin entry system in both the MR2 turbo and the celica GT4, so obviously this would bring his source of information into question - if one bit is wrong why should it not all be wrong???

I don't usually respond in these 1vs1 type threads and have to agree with previous posts that the two are not really comparable since one has true rally pedigree and the other is a more respectable track racer.. the differences between the two far outweigh any similarities..

however i did fid this piece of evidence which does seem to support the MR2..

Last car was a MR2 rev 3 turbo - now have a modified MY98 PPP.
MR2 was faster above 100 - better aerodynamics I guess
MR2 was more controllable - better track car - u can place the tail exactly where u want it. Tho not much in it timewise between the 2.
MR2 was more involving to drive - better driving pos, much better steering, brakes - could do trackdays on std brakes - try that in a Scoob.
Scoob - better power out of corners, er...4 seats (main advantage).
Both great cars.
Re dodgy handling in the wet - what a load of crap - my MR2 was never anything other than totally predictable - exactly what u want - could keep up with most scoobs wet or dry.
MR2 much more of a hooligan's car - donuts, drifts far easier.

Hum..I tend to like a woman in the passenger seat, what you generally see with MR2s, with scoobys its usually five 'lads' crammed nice and sung together.

Exclamation

nah, my scoob has had FAR more positive attention than my mr2turbo, which in all fairness does get complemented.

for me atleast, and remember I own BOTH at present, the scoob wins by some margin

300ZX lol. Medallion. Unreliable. VVank. Sold one of them not long ago. Jeez was I glad to see the back of it .

As CC says Scoobs will get far more attention, they look very aggressive whereas the MR2 is tastefully understated as stock IMHO.. on the downside, as ur all aware no doubt, that attention is sooo often unwanted..

At least I can sleep at night (he says at 10 to 3 in the morning ROFL)
